Complete newbie
My old Hymer B Classic has a roof leak where the flat metal roof meets the curved fibreglass over-cab. It has clearly been previously bodged with a plastic sealing strip and some unsuitable mastic which doesn't stick any more. I need to take it all off and redo the whole width of the external roof joint.

Any suggestions for the best mastic to use, and is there a particular plastic strip available for the purpose? Anywhere I can find how-to instructions?

Thanks
Chris

As an alternative I used Eternabond tape (4" wide in white) over the plastic (with metal rail under it) and mastic to reseal our AT. Wasn't leaking but was getting really discoloured, etc.
Fairly easy to do and there's a number of "how to" guides on manufacturers website, etc.

I like Puraflex 40 it stays tacky but apparently you can fibreglass over it, paint over it, ive had all sorts of leaking roof this year and im at this stage too, needing the seal strips, they don't need done yet im advised but I want it done.

I fixed my Hymer roof leak with Puraflex, then plastic window trim strip, then covered the whole joint with Eternabond tape. 2 years on and it's still bone dry.

Sikaflex 522 caravan sealant , cost about £12 a tube.
I tried that with mine and it wasn’t sufficient (and I lathered it). Finished up getting it replaced at Reliance who replaced the strip etc, all good since.
