Hi, everyone been in Europe over a week now. Travelled from Calais to Bruges to Luxembourg to Switzerland and now we are in lake Garda . The good lady is missing her soaps and reality tv , as smarty sim is pretty bad for streaming and site wifi’s are hit and miss . Putting it out there is fitting a satellite dish worth considering.

I have a fitted satellite dish, rarely used, doesn't work if you are under trees or behind an obstruction . We have a stand alone dish, bought cheap in France and about 15m of twin cable takes 5 minutes to put up gets all the channels if you point it at the right satellite. Very easy to choose a different satellite to watch english language channels when out of the UK footprint.

Good point had not considered the stand alone option

Very few people are fitting satellite dishes now. You certainly wouldn't be able to watch any English soaps that far south .
Bruges and maybe Luxembourg if you are lucky ---- sorry

You need to be aware of the footprint of the satellite..
Once you reach certain areas you loose the area covered by the channels you want to get ie BBC / ITV so while a dish may be fine in some places, you can loose it if you go outside the area covered. You can get bigger dishes but there is a limit to how big you can put on your roof.

A sat dish won't help in Italy will only work 3/4 of the way down through France.
We have just come back from a 6 week trip to France & Spain never bothered to put our sat dish up just streamed everything.
I was using a RWG 200GB sim £20/month full data allowance when roaming .

As you are already in Italy just buy a local sim.

Cheers everyone thanks for your feedback maybe will just look into better mobile networks

I watched Wimbledon on BBC1 on the aire in Milan on a sunny day a few years ago, using an 85cm dish, which went off when a cloud came over! It didn’t work at all in Lake Garda, but it may work in the South of France.

Got everything at Garda with a 85cm dish.
