Can anyone throw any light on how you can scan to a computer as we are having no luck. we've set it up & you can print from the computer via wifi or cable .When you put a document in to scan there is no short cuut allowing you to start from the lap top. When you press scan on the printer it offers you 'local pc' or 'network' .Which one you choose & ok it doesn't matter as it states "not available" to either?
We have deleted the first installation & reinstalled it but still the same? Anyone any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Mac or PC? On the Mac, go to System Preferences/Printers and Scanners - open that up and switch to scan and it should work.

On the PC, if you put "scan" into the search bar by the start menu, it will bring up the basic scanning app.

You can probably download a more featureful version from the Samsung website and install it, but the basic mac/PC ones should do everything you need.

Sorry - no idea why I said Samsung - the website of the printer manufacturer.

Can you scan to a memory stick /card, then read it and print via the laptop?
We also use a very good program called Vuescan, which works with just about every printer and scanner made!

i had the same problem with a hp printer and found i had to download extra software i would try the samsung site or just put the problem into google

You will need to install the relevant scanner drivers and depending on the OS version you are running either the Samsung scanning software that was part of the Samsung Printer Experience software or use Scan if running a later version of windows.
The Samsung universal scanner driver should work with this model.
Drivers are available here: https://support.hp.com/gb-en/driver...8-laser-multifunction-printer-series/16462807

Or for a free option you could use NAPS2.

Did HP not take over Samsung printer business?

Usually the drivers in the CD you install will include a driver for the scanner and a little utility programme to use them, If you have a Windows 10 PC go into "Settings", then "drivers" then "printers and scanners" and click on your machine to see what info you can see

everything is installed for the 2nd or 3rd time. All you can do is copy .
I can even print from my phone but attempt to scan using the scan button on computer to the lap top & it just says not connected even though it is by both wifi & hard wire usb.
I wouldn't mind but we only bought this so we could scan rather than take photos & print on the other samsung laser which was a printer only.

You are starting the scanning operation from the laptop? The printer just needs to be on, you shouldn’t need to touch any buttons on the printer at all. Once you got the scanning app open on the laptop does it see the printer/scanner at all?

Do you have the Samsung Printer Experience software loaded? If so open that and select the Scan option.

This will bring up the scanner options as long as the laptop is communicating with the scanner and the Universal Scan Driver is loaded.

Alternatively select Scan from the Windows start menu and you should get this

To confirm that the Samsung Universal Scan Driver is loaded open Device Manager and select Imaging Devices, it should be displayed under there.

I know I had a number of issues with my C460 multifunction following a Windows update. I ended up removing all related printer and scanner drivers, removing the printer from windows and starting again with a clean install using the Samsung packaged driver.

Open Microsoft Paint (Mspaint), on the file drop down tap click ‘from scanner or camera’, then just follow instructions.
Hopefully a simple task, if you can print from pc I’m guessing the correct drivers will already be installed...
