I have a galaxy tab A and avtex tv with a 4K cable that should connect the two together . Changed the source on the tv but cannot project what’s on the tablet to the tv . Any ideas ??

AFAIK. The Tab A does not support use of the cable. Something I looked into sometime ago as had a couple of the Tab "A" But it may depend on year of the model.

"The Tab A 10.1 2016 doesn't support an MHL connection, and so won't work with an HDMI/HDMI adaptor for connecting to a TV or set-top box."

You could try a chrome cast or firestik.

Jewellbags can you use smart view on the tab A and do you have mira cast on the avtex, so you can send the tablet view to the tv. Or use a firestick to mirror the tablet screen ? Let me know if you need anymore help.

But doesn’t that solution require wifi ? My tab doesn’t have 4g .

Jewellbags No you don't need 4g.
Smart view is part of the Galaxy tab A system ..Slide the screen down from top to get the icons , find Smart View. My Avtex has Miracast built in , its part of the "Picture" menu optons .

I’ll give it a go a little later

On my Tab A the smart view does work onto my Samsung home tv. (y)
Have the Aldi / Medion TV in the van, never tried that as yet.

I've just taken delivery of a Google Chromecast dongle (£30) and I set it up today to cast from my Samsung Tab 6A Lite to the Avtex TV in the van. I wanted it so we could watch iPlayer etc when away and the larger screen is easier to view than the small tablet.

It works well is all I can say. Setting up instructions are minimal but I muddled through it. I'm not sure if WiFi is essential but without WiFi there wouldn't be any iPlayer so the two go hand in hand for us.

The Chromecast will apparently work either way i.e as a networked device using ethernet/ wifi or what I call an 'ad hoc' wifi connection to the streaming device. Must admit I've only used it as a networked device but I suspect when I set it up initially it's an ad hoc connection to my phone as no wifi passwords etc are known by the chromecast at that point.

I use a combination of Fire Stick and Chromecast, it seems to cover all our streaming needs in the MH.
