Right or wrong ?

On rallies, the Fun marshalls usually try to park people all facing the same way. Therefore looking for which side the habitation door on is a key skill for being a marshall. However, there will always be some that want to face each other to share the space, and that can be accommodated as well. You only have to ask.

About 10yrs ago, I was on a Q&A panel and one of top C&MC hierarchy was there and the question of nose or reverse in parking came up.

He said, that "anyone could park in either direction, within the boundaries of the pitch"
I cheekily asked , if I could have that in writing, and I received it a few days later.
I always carry it in the van 👍
Come on Owen, share the letter with us Funsters. Make sure you add a few caveats like buy one night get one free 😎

It’s actually on the paper you get at arrival on CAMC sites about how to pitch.

Our RHD PVC has hab door on drivers side. It has nerve been an issue. We park on a pitch depending on outlook and also if there is a slope, like most CAMC pitches we have experienced, nose up the slope. I really can’t see it matters, especially on most uk sites because there is plenty of room between pitches!

Is there a reason why a right hand drive van would have not the habitation door kerbside ?
as said, easy to buy the van in in rhd form but too much effort economically to warrant a mirror image of lhd versions
It’s more that only British manufacturers put the doors on the left side. There’s many of us have coachbuilts that were built outside UK, so have the doors on the right. Perhaps you should lobby CAMC to allocate one part of their sites exclusively for British built motorhomes?
There is a site in somerset that specifically bans any motorhome&caravan that has a continental door set up.you are not allowed on.
A bit of a pain when you come back with your shopping and some pratt in a car has parked right behind you.
That is why you have a stable door as then you can open the top whilst standing on there bonnet loading your shopping in (y)
Forward planning Lenny, always leave a few feet gap in front of you? 😀
I di that once & returned to find a half wit had parked a scooter in the gap.
They would have to be good drivers to get into a 4ft space? 🤔
as above scotters/mbike

I always ask which way they want me, on a non awning pitch they normally ask me to face nose in, but on an awning pitch they ask for your hab door to be facing the area for the awning.

I think it's Uphill Marina near Weston. Red Kite near Llanidloes in Wales has the same rule.

It would appear that Red Kite have seen the error of their ways,as long as you pay for a
'premium pitch' 🙄

Hi.
We are RHD with Hab door n/side.... Only once has this been questioned over here, when i drove in and all the others here were backed in. " One " of the people....... ( Diplomacy at work... and i value my life... " Coming dearest " ) came up and pointed to the fact i was the wrong way round. " Her " husband :ROFLMAO:(y)(y) ( Ssssh.....) came and pointed the fact out that the Hab doors were now all the same way and we all had our own space.

That's it...no more using campsites for us...I find getting the van straight, tilting solar panel facing the right angle, levelling up, now I have to consider which way our door faces...this is doing my head in..
Just a minute...sorry guys..we don't use campsites they are for Tents and caravans... holidaymakers, kids with bikes and balls...electric cables and toilet blocks.. extortionate pricings, unfriendly site managers who like me wore a uniform for their working life, I handed mine back in..
Isn't motorhoming supposed to be getting away from everyday stresses..🤔😃😃🧑‍✈️🇪🇦

You weren’t a Traffic Warden by any chance, were you?

Here in the Canaries, it is custom to park with the front of the van facing the exit path in case an emergency evacuation is required. However, not all adhere to this.

For emergencies sake, that used to be the same here when most of the units were caravans.

Apparently, that was so, any unit available with a towball could hook on and pull the units away and isolate the blaze BUT, now a lot of the units are MH's, it's thought to be less necessary as all units have their own propulsion. 🤔

Yes I understand that thinking, but it's a lot quicker to evacuate forwards than in reverse.

Not on wet grass with a front wheel drive vehicle as some Funsters have found out.

In reverse, all the weight is thrown over the front drive wheels + it's easier to hook a chain over a rear towball instead of trying to find the towing eye and fitting it! 🤔

I really don't understand UK sites and their stupid rules.
Any other country you pay for a pitch and park how you like.
You have paid for the space it's up to you how you pitch anyone telling you how to pitch can sod off.

What about those that don't have a tow bar. Another reason for reversing in is , if something goes wrong and you can't start it the engine (in most ,not all) is easily accessible

If your parked somewhere you.may need to exit at short notice park facing out, the exit escape route

Flood plains if there risk of flooding

Wild camping and something makes you uncomfortable and you want to.leave

Or it could be the way the wind blows, or so you have the best view from which evere end you sit.

No one will be happy the simplest approach is if you don't like the site rules don't go there

Totally agree with everything you have written, isn't it good when we are given the choice which, in my experience, we are? 👍

PS. I hope you know where you towing eye is located and it fits? 😀

Of course but I do avoid soft ground at rallies and especially wild spots where there no team of funsters to get me out
