Hi folks

Roller Team in Poole are quoting £57 per hour for minor repairs to exterior plastic trim to replace a couple of flimsy trim panels plus over circa £400 for the two flimsy panels.

Is this normal?

The exterior trim seems very flimsy and superficial. For a "budget brand" according to other MHers this seems ridiculously excessive.

Solent Motor Homes in Poole claim they are the SOLE importers and all parts can ONLY be sourced via them.

Any ideas on sourcing parts elsewhere?

ouch, I'm sure you could source the panels yourself. have you tried to?

Will try and contact the manufacturers in Italy direct. However Solent Motor Homes insist parts can only be forced via them as they are the sole importer

Uk average Vehicle repair rate is circa £75 per Hr
Berry Chiswick BMW at Brentford in Middlesex hold the record currently @£215 per Hr
Both +VAT of course
I kid you not!!!!!

It might be cheaper if you get the parts fabricated locally. There are companies that advertise in MMM magazine which you could try.

Just had an offside rear panel replaced on my new chausson..
Basically just a cosmetic panel holding rear light cluster but full height of van.. the panel cost alone was £845...
What concerned me was how long they would be available for with the constant changing of models..as I imagine a one off copy would be a good deal more..
Andy..

That was an insurance claim .. but the £845 was what I was told by the dealer who have to source the panel from chausson that it would cost me to buy a panel...
I've no idea the total cost of the claim..

If it was your fault @andy63 then im sure you will know the cost when it comes to your renewal time,, as im sure the insurance company will let you know in the way of premium increases , as they always do :eek:

My insurance wasn't involved.. the 3rd party insurance took care of the claim . :)

For information re Trigano markups. A Chausson shower duck board costs £60 plus carriage to the dealer, with a recommended retail price of £180!!

Unverified, but I think they have to offer spares for 10 years post production to comply with French insurance requirements

Have you thought about contacting Just Go near Luton. They import 150 - 200 vans per year and do repairs/maintenance on their vans. I am sure that they would be able to point you in the right direction. Have had dealings with them and they are very helpful.

Often find parts much cheaper on the Continent, cracked a rear light on my Hymer UK price £160, picked one up from a French dealer for under a hundred.
Try contacting some Italian or German dealers.
