I am going to up grade my monitor/screen in my reversing camera setup. I know that screens have improved enormously in the last 15 yrs since it was installed. I don't think, but could be wrong, that the camera technology has hugely improved and was going to keep the factory fitted camera. It was a top of the range job with lots of irs for night vision, a microphone, it's fitted at high level and motorised to see vertically and horizontally (to act as rear view mirror when driving And most importantly it would save me running new cable.

What do you think? Would I get the full benefit of the new screen?

Given that you haven't gone into the spec -
HD was around at that time and that is still an acceptable standard
You don't need to see every pebble on the road- just the big stone wall.
If going into a new location in reverse I normally have someon guide me anyway - as they have nothing else to do, traffic may appear randomly and you tend to be looking at objects around you and it is easy to miss the overhanging tree branches or ground the back on a slight incline.
I would try and get away with the old screen.

If you current camera is a CCD type probably won't be a big improvement but if a Cmos it could be worth changing for a CCD.
