Is it ok the leave the cassette with water in with a organic sachet to keep it clean or empty it and just put some aqua flush in the bowl to keep it smelling nice.

There's no such thing as a quick toilet thread.

Water, left standing will eventually smell.
It also encourages damp.
I'd remove all water and leave everything dry.

I've left mine clean and dry.

This thread was timely, as it's reminded me to out and give the slide and seals a quick silicone spray and operate the slide a few times.

Do you then remember to leave a note on the loo that the cassette is not in place, so that the wife does not then go and use it. ?

Mmmm, Mine is in storage on a cycle route as well
Just looked up the route in Cycle Map, its 30.5 miles each way with 500m of climbing.
Might need to sleep overnight in the storage place (or take it half a mile away)
