I think the PDI on our Burstner must have been carried out by Stevie Wonder in a dark room. Broken Fridge Panel, non functioning SatNav, and when I looked inside the Toolkit, the puncture repair glue/goo is also missing. Perils of buying during a pandemic at a distance, I suppose, but I would have hoped that the Dealer would have at least made some effort to secure potential repeat business. They have a good reputation, so heaven help the bad 'uns ...

Did you mark damage and missing items down when you took delivery of it because you should be able to them repaired or replaced at the dealers expense and even if you didnt mark them down if the dealer is worth his salt I would expect him to rectify the situation just for the sake of good service

Reported each fault as I found them. The Fridge Panel caused various 12v problems, losing settings etc so wasn't able to test the satnav before the Fridge Panel was replaced, and so on. The Fridge Panel had been reported as an intermittent fault on the Indy Engineer's Report so the'we couldn't find a fault' explanation was pretty feeble. It's all getting a wee bit tedious now, and things are beginning not to add up. I emailed Pioneer re the Satnav fault and received a 'tough luck' reply the following morning. The Dealer claims to have contacted Pioneer almost 1 week ago and claims to be awaiting a response.

That's pretty rubbish service especially as I'm getting it wasn't a cheap
That about sums up my feeling! Just sent a follow up email asking whether the 12v compressor/inflator should be in the toolkit as well. I can't see a {different] Dealer video that I found last night, that suggests the compressor should also be part of the tyre repair kit. I have found an AA Video for a car tyre that says the glue and the compressor are a pair of components.

Have to wait for the Dealer response now. They have not covered themselves with glory.

If its a peugeut or citroen they do come with a compressor and glue from new if it hasn't got a spare wheel and I think the glue is quite expensive from the main agent but I don't know about other marques

You think that’s bad, in the last week we’ve had two brand new vans in for lithium batteries, inverter/charger, solar panels and battery management installations, and we have refused the start the installation

We have had to do this as when we inspected/checked them, the leisure batteries are discharging into the engine battery, as the ’old’ type of split charge system has been used with a chassis with a smart alternator (Regenerative Braking)

On a vehicle fitted with a Smart Alternator you simply cannot just connect the leisure batteries and engine battery in parallel when the engine is running, yet converters are, and the dealers in the main are clueless

One bewildered and upset customer rang the dealer about her two week old motorhome, and explained that their brand new van ‘didn’t work’

The dealer said that he can’t believe that ‘xyz’ would build a van and not fit a ‘B2B’ He went on to say that we (Van Bitz) didnt know what we were talking about!

Our mutual customer asked if he knew what a ‘B2B’ is or what it does and he admitted he’d ‘never heard of one before’ She also then told him she’d twice had low battery warnings from her tracking system after long drives, again indicative of incorrect installation with a Smart Alternator.

That’s two conversions from two different European motorhome converters!

Update: Dealer is posting Compressor and Glue; SatNav Card was sent to Pioneer's UK Authorised Repair Centre [rather than Pioneer itself] to see if they can recover or restore the SD Card, If not, the Dealer will send us a new AVIC 160 Unit. I'm not naming the Dealer, because the problems are being rectified without quibbling. It's just the PDI that was a wee bit slapdash, and, with Brunhilde being our first ever motorhome, it is taking me some time to discover things that have been missed, mainly from seeing Fun Posts and then thinking 'Should I have one of those?'... And, finally, when a mistake or omission has been made, it's only fair to give the Dealer a chance to put matters right, and they have done so to date. The Sales Rep we have dealt with is laid back beyond the horizontal and he gets the remedial action underway, but doesn't always give us an update, so I have more than one email stating, 'It's being done, I thought I'd replied to you last week ...'. To be fair, there have also been a couple of occasions where that relaxed approach has benefited us.

And, when all this faffing about is over, Brunhilde will still be a very nice m/home, and as we swan off into the sunset on a 'proper' holiday, we shall forget about all the teething problems ... (y)

I understood PDI is done at the factory, not the dealer??

Our handover from the dealer was pathetic. 18 months ago.

If people don’t publish the problems with these dealers and name them then they’ll always have a “good reputation”….🤷🏼
If I felt that I was being ripped off, I would name the Dealer post haste. The PDI was a wee bit slapdash, which is both unfortunate and disappointing but that is now a historical occurrence. The Dealer has agreed to rectify the omissions/failures without quibbling, and should be given the opportunity to do so. A wee bit sharper or more accurate on the communications would have been good [e.g. SatNav problem referred to Pioneer UK Repair Centre for testing/recovery, not Pioneer Europe who responded to my email the following day] and would have spared me some angst, but all will be forgotten when the problems are resolved.

I regard the PDI as the process where the roadworthiness/functionality of the motorhome habitation/systems such as oven working, fridge OK [sore point!] etc are confirmed and problems/repairs/replacements undertaken prior to delivery to us. The Handover was limited to some 11 video clips showing where water tanks, gas bottles etc are located and which way to turn things on and off, and was done very well as far as it went. The PDI work was not so thorough, but that's history now, and the Dealer has agreed to put things right without any quibbling, so all should be OK, eventually.
But, being a pair of greenhorns, seeing a Fun Post/query and checking Brunhilde to find we have the same problem or omission has caused a few 'O.F.F.S.' utterances that took the glister off the new acquisition. But we will get there, and one day, we shall look back and laugh; but not today! The Compressor & Glue is in the post, and we await delivery of either a recovered SD Card or a replacement SatNav AVIC 160, ideally before my bottom of the range TomTom, last updated 35+ months ago, dies automatically at the 3 year mark for want of updated software.
