Can anyone confirm my suspicions that i have a faulty manual change over valve please?

Have had a Gaslow manual change over valve fitted for a while ( the one with the gauge on and no tap to operate on changeover ), just changed a bottle of gas which was empty . i had not shut the full bottle off and there was a seepage of gas out of the pigtail i was removing and the gas was coming from the full bottle via the changeover valve.
Of course i switched off before continuing but i was sure that i have done this before with no escape of gas from the opposite gas bottle as i " thought " there was some for of valve inside:Blush:.

If this is not faulty then if i leave the tap on the empty bottle open when i have changed over wont that equalise the pressure / gas in both bottles?

it must be knackered??

there is something in the bumf that states not to be used with a bottle disconnected.
where as the auto change over can.

Thanks Aba have been reading up but could not find any reference to that point.

so its not knackered then :BigGrin::thumb:

as i see it you are supposed to turn off the empty and turn on the full one although they are supposed to have a non return valve so you can change the empty for a full one without turning off but recommend that it is not used with only 1 bottle.

i would check it for debris in the inlet.
chances are you will blow what ever is causing the small leak through it when you connect your next full bottle.

Why not phone Gaslow and ask them? I have found them helpful.

Just called Gaslow, and posted the changeover valve too them. They said it sounds as if the check valve is faulty, they will check it and replace it free of charge by return if there is a fault.

Cant argue with that service:thumb:
