I've fitted the angled aluminum feet to the solar panel, and marked out on the roof where the feet will be and given the roof a good clean.

My question, I'm hoping someone can answer is how much sanding/rubbing down on the roof should I do. It's a Swift which has a thin aluminium sheet roof which has been painted (I assume). Do I rub down to the metal or just rough up the paint? My head says to the metall as paint isn't that strong but didn't want to get it wrong!

Thanks
Mark

It isn't paint. It's an electrophoretic coating applied during manufacture of the aluminium. I clean the roof using the rough side of a washing up sponge then dry it. After that a final wipe over with alcohol.

tonyidle thank you, good job I didn't rub it down :) I have the alcohol and everything else, this was the last question I had before installing them.

Thanks
Mark

Hi
I washed the roof off first and then used distilled vinegar mixed with a little water.Wipe of let it dry well. Only abrade/ rub down with abrasive paper the bottom of the feet. I also ported/ drllid 2mm a small breather hole on the inside of the block for air heat expansion once stuck down:cool::cool: panel still stuck solid one month later
