Does the zone include routes to the ferry terminals in Portsmouth?

If so which ones?

Geoff
The ferry terminal access roundabout is just outside according to their map

These are going to pop up everywhere. A right pain in the wallet if you have an older vehicle. The one in Bath includes the main road from the M4 to the south. Now everyone goes around causing pollution in all the surrounding villages instead.

If I've understood the proposal correctly the CAZ only applies to HGV's, Buses, Coaches, Taxis and Private hire vehicles, as it stands at the moment Private cars, motorcycles and vans will not be charged, however that may change in the future I guess.

Yes, probably like the TFL one if you are a UK resident all done by anpr.If you are not you are expected to be telepathic in knowing you have to registeryour veicle so as to avoid being fined. The UK excels itself in using a system that is the complete opposite to everywhere else which requires everyone to register not just the foreigner & discriminates against them by usuing anpr for the locals.

What aout Gunwharf for the Ryde.IOW ferry.? It is not easy to see on the CAZ map.

Geoff
Gunwharfe is within the CAZ zone, it is at the railway station and you can just see where it says Ferry Terminal on the left of the map.

But I have noted that on the Government website for checking compliance for various Emission Zones my vehicle it shows not as a PHGV but as an HGV.

I intend to get it corrected.

I just checked mine and it comes up the same, please let us know if you have any success in changing the vehicle type, although I know for the London emission zones motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes are classed as HGV's.

The proposed Portsmouth scheme consultancy document states

"Private cars, motorcycles and vans will not be charged, as the government has approved our plans for a charging Class B CAZ."

It is not clear whether that excludes 'PHGV Motor Caravans'.

We need to ask. Bet nobody knows the classification.

Don't take the M275 - further along M27/A27 and south on the Eastern Rd via Southsea and Old Portsmouth looks like it avoids the zone
