I asked this question inside a Lebara thread, but no response. So I'm trying again 😃

We are in Portugal and Spain and are into our second month of 100 Gb for £25 with Popit, and so far, so good. It's been excellent everywhere. Hopefully it will renew for our third month as well.

We used it before leaving the UK, only for a short time, but that was sufficient to "go green" so we could use it in the EU.

I understand on our return we will have to use the SIM in the UK until it goes green again. But does anybody have any experience of how much data / how long we will need to use the SIM back home after 3 months use in the EU before we can freeze it at £1 per month?

I used about 50 mb of data back in the UK after 10 days in EU to get to the £1 sub status. My chat with customer services indicated that you don't need my data use in UK however long you've been in the EU to get to that status.

Not a Popit user so don't really understand any of this. Interested though. Care to explain it - Go green? Freeze at £1 per month?

We had to use a load of data on returning to the UK so we could revert to £1.
We ran movies on 3 devices for about 4 hours to meet the required usage……not a huge problem.

I used it for a few months abroad and when I tried to put it on the 1 month thing was told I need to get my percentage of UK use up before I could do so.

Using the phone app I monitored it while I did so. After a few days normal internet use in the UK it went green and I then paused it on the £1 retainer basis.

I'm pretty certain that if you aren't 100% UK compliant when you return, you will be with one more months subscription. That's how it worked for us.
I activated our sim a day before we sailed to Spain. We were there 8 weeks and were only 20% UK compliant on our return. We were due to pay our monthly subscription and so I just left it on and used it for one weekend that we were away in the van and we reached 100% compliance during the weekend away. After that I just parked it for a £1 a month until our next long term adventure.

Our next adventure where we restarted our subscription with Popit involved 5 days in the UK before we sailed to Spain for 5 weeks and we were 100% UK compliant the whole time we were away. Once again, on our return I put the sim on hold till needed again. We have the 100gb package and it suits us so we're very happy with it.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm down to 8%, (and counting) so it will be interesting to see what awaits on or return. 1 extra month would be fine.

Why is everyone pausing their subscription when they return to the UK? I just use mine full time as my main sim.

As soon as I returned I changed to one of their cheap tariff of a month then to the £1 retention tariff.
Whatever remained of the current month then a month on cheap tariff(which I did online) then contacted their help line to move me to retention. That was last year.

We have two Poppit sims and on return to UK we just download as many TV programmes as possible until the compliance turns green.
Two sims for touring are much cheaper than Vodafone charges for roaming.
Probably will ditch Vodafone at end of contract and use the Poppits.

Because I only use the Popit SIM in my my mifi router when out of UK. Use ID Mobile otherwise.

Thought Vodaphone restricted your data when abroad..BUSBY

EE are offering 30 days Unlimited Data in EU for £25 on top of my UK plan, when I go to EU seems a good deal

There are much, much cheaper options for the UK - even allowing for the £1 retention.
