Hi, I have purchased a 1982 GMC Vandura, which was originally brought into the UK for use as Ambulances. They had some left over and decided to convert them to Campervans.
I have been online at Gov.uk and they say it may be MOT exempt, but I cannot understand why. Has anyone got any info on this for me please. Mark.

28 years old does that count as vintage?

Hi Welcome

My DIL has a Bedford CF 1972 and that is MOT exempt. but there is something about a requirement for a ststement that it is roadworthy.

I will see what i can find out

here you go

40 years old

Yes, cars, vans, motorcycles and other light passenger vehicles don't need to have an MOT if they're over 40 years old and have not been substantially changed in the previous 30 years.

There is a Historic Vehicle exemption for vehicles built before 1st January 1980. Look on the DVLA website. It may be it was built before 1982 as it was probably an import.
Edit. Others replied as I was typing saying the same thing.

38 years old, 40 years and it’s classed as an Historic Vehicle and will be tax and MOT exempt. You have to apply for it though. It may be older than it’s registered date.
