Next month we're off to France with Hymie for a few days, our return to the UK is from St Malo, does anybody know of somewhere nice relatively nearby to overnight in? We have a civilised departure time of 10.30am, but we don't want an hour or so of driving before we get to the port, would rather not be in a hurry.

Commercial Aire at Pontorson, from memory about 30 minutes from ferry, but it was a few years ago.
It's also very handy if you want yo visit Mont St Michel.

We parked up in the queueing lanes at mid day in August for a next.day sailing. Some superb seafood restaurants.inside the Citadel

I have never done that but as BF has only one sailing a day and the only other operator at St Malo is Condor who have separate lanes I can see there should not be a problem.

I usually park nearer to the entrance on the outside, it's a bit flatter there.

Try parking Relais Paul Feval next to the race course, we stayed here in June and it is less than 10 minutes to St Malo Port. From memory the overnight parking charge was 7.50 Euros and this included a free park and ride into St Malo.

We stayed here for a couple of nights:-

On the outskirts of St Malo, near a little beach and a village square with a few shops/bars etc.

Bus stop next to the aire to travel into St Malo if required.

Thanks for the suggestions, we'll have to have a look and see what's best for us, but I've a feeling that it will be decided on the day.

We have no plans for our few nights, its just dipping our toe into Europe with Hymie, been many times in the car from a week in one place, to semi-touring (few nights in one place and then drive to another) and more recently a mega tour of 10 countries in 10 days in the Mustang!

We have one night booked onto a site as close as possible to St Malo, its highly likely I'll still be in compression bandages and so we need to reduce the walking required due to the possible pain factor, I've no crystal ball but I don't think I'll be healed in less than 5 weeks unfortunately. We're also going to Saumur for Mark to visit a tank museum and then drift around vaguely between the two locations and the coast.
