Hello. We are in our first season of mohoming and would like to know members' recommended storage facilities near Spanish and Portuguese airports especially Malaga, Faro, Valencia, Alicante, and Barcelona. We need to be back home in the UK regularly for ailing parents, leaving our van secure, then returning to catch a few weeks in the sun again. Thanks in advance .

Use the search facility as topic been discussed many time.
Main issue is insurance as almost every policy has a clause that van is not covered if you are away from it more than 48hours unless it's at the stated overnight storage location advised when you took the policy out.
Some members have said they managed to get insurance at extra cost and supplying all details on the storage facility.
Good luck.

It's not near one of the airports listed, however, there's a company not too far from Almeria at Antas and beside the motorway. It's a Brit/Spanish owned company called Hispavan and looked very secure when I was there. They sell and rent out vans and have external and internal facilities. Very helpful owners too; a caveat to this is that they might not offer storage. I'd have no qualms using them if they do.

The link above has plenty of info.

We are using the German family-owned Chris Parking, a couple of miles from Alicante Airport. The van is stored out of the weather inside a secure hall, and a free shuttle service is provided to the airport.

http://www.chrisparking.com/

Our van is there for 6 months during the winter with us flying backwards and forwards, and so far is working exactly as anticipated.

The garage plug the van in to keep the batteries charged whenever I request; and I have paid €400 euro for the half-year period, which from my perspective is good value.

Insurance was a challenge, but I was eventually able to find a broker and large UK-based underwriter to provide the precise full cover I required. Message me if you want details.

I have also used Hispavan for repairs and they are excellent, as stated. They mentioned to me that they do offer storage, but as you say, they are nearly an hour away from Almeria Airport, and our local airport in the UK doesn't have any flights there.

But Alicante works really well for us - there are loads of competitively priced flights and we can choose the most convenient time of day to fly.

Another vote for Chris Parking from me. A nice family and what appears to us really secure indoor parking and a mere 5 mins to the terminal.

Comfort Insurance will allow us to leave our van “unattended” abroad in a pre-agreed parking establishment for up to 4 weeks (total) per year. I sense (but may be wrong) that a different policy at a higher premium may be possible allowing longer periods to park abroad.

They have investigated and confirmed Chris Parking as acceptable for us although ironically the two times we have used them so far were via Scenic Insurance/AXA.

We intend to use Chris Parking next year for either 2x 2 week or 4x 1 week periods. Each time Comfort will charge us a £20 fee.

NFU Mutual (Chichester) also suggested to me that “parking” abroad would be acceptable but I did not get as far as discussing details with them.

Many people appear to leave their MH around the coast of Spain and Portugal in places they feel are secure but without informing their Insurance company.

I think Comfort are "happy" with Victoria Parking as well. They are cheaper because its outside, but are they as secure?

Autocaravanas Seyla, near Malaga Airport. Walled storage compound, with repair workshop and small accessories shop, motorhome washing facility, guard lives on site. There are basic motorhome facilities including fresh water, grey/black dump and hookup if you want.

http://www.acseyla.com/

You can stay overnight if you want (can't remember the charge but not much extra). Not exactly scenic but quite adequate for an overnight stay. Transport to/from airport available for reasonable charge. When we were there a couple of years ago there was a couple with a motorhome with some slight damage from a motorway blowout, they were staying in it while it was being repaired.
