I would estimate we have about 30kg of extra weight stored in the over cab bed while travelling .
Is this ok ? I’ve not noticed any problems with driving but wanted to ask if that’s a safe amount to carry when driving .👍🏻👍🏻

Safe as long as it doesn't fall on you when driving. Is there a retaining cargo net.

yes . I do have the “ stop you rolling out of bed” clip up net thing lol that we normally use . Was just worried about the extra weight over the cab whilst driving but glad it doesn’t seem to be a problem 👍🏻👍🏻

Does the overcab bed not have a 75kg or more weight limit? If so there should be no problem carrying that amount up there when travelling too.

One caveat: check the front axle weight limit and your actual van weights!

I use the storage above the cab to balance out my ‘front’ / ‘back’ axle weights, with no perceptible change in van handling (it is always horrible at the front 😁).

2 people are meant to sleep in it so weight capacity would be at least 200kgs.

Our dropdown bed when pushed up is secured with two seatbelt-like straps fastened with similar push-in clips.

They seem very strong.

You could have two made up to the length that would give you storage space but also allow headroom underneath.
