I’m planning to change the battery in the van today and checking the Electrobloc manual and Van and note that there is no fuse in the AES slot on the Electrobloc although the van does have a Dometic AES fridge.

As far as I am aware there has never been a fuse in that slot in the 10 years we have owned the van. Although we have had some issues with the fridge over that time, I don’t think the issues are connected with a lack of a fuse.

I would be interested to know whether it it common for this fuse slot not to be used in similar circumstances.

Cheers

Fuse in will operate 12v while parked up.(massive drain on battery)
I think 🤔
Doesn’t the aes only work when it senses charging over 13.5v? If below it switches to gas/240v.
Not 100% so might be talking from the old derrière

There are 3 ways to wire a fridge from the EBL

I have a similar set-up with a different 'Magic Box' and a similar Dometic fridge.

I have often been curious, about the 'missing' fuse, but as the fridge works, (the beer is cold and the wine is chilled) I have not been overly concerned.

Isn't that an 'emergency' slot to get the fridge working, or if you have excess solar?

i think its because the 12v relay is already fitted to the rear of your fridge .if it wasnt then you would have the fuse in

That makes sense.

It's not essential with the fuse fitted it allows the fridge to run from the hab battery.
With our first Hymer if no gas or mains the fridge would switch to 12v from hab battery, pulling the fuse would disable this, on our last couple of vans fridge would only run from the hab battery if 12v was selected manually on the fridge.

There's another fuse for the fridge which provides high current. The D+ signal is sent to the fridge and signals it to run on the high current feed. The Nordelectronica unit could be used on a fridge that doesn't have that facility

Just found this thread and noticed we also have the fuse missing in our hymer, the fridge runs from the hab battery when switched, would this allow it to run from surplus solar or would it still need something from the solar controller to trigger it?

It will alow you to switch the fridge to 12v manually.

But we can anyway on the fridge/ control panel or the app, and will run off hab battery?

We have had 3 Hymers always required that fuse to run off hab battery
Leave things as they are then, all works, just thought it would be a handy way to switch over, I can do manually on the app or panel if I need to, but will probably then forget to turn back!
