Morning all. We are about to collect a new (to us) van after an absence from motorhoming for several years. I'm struggling to understand what I will need for watching TV in the UK and abroad. I have a 4G wifi unit fitted in the van and will have a Avtek smart TV fitted. The dealer suggested I get a Smarty sim for the wifi unit but after reading some of these posts Smarty doesn't appear to be the best option. We both have mobiles - one with EE and one with Tesco, neither data plans are unlimited (not even sure if this is relevant). Could you tell me what I should be considering please. Telecomms and internet access are not my forte so please keep it simple. Many thanks.

As you already have 2 plans, you could investigate making one or other unlimited and use directly for the TV bypassing the mifi unit.
Another option might be to see if one of those providers will give a discount on another sim which you can put in the mifi.
Lebara are good too but try a comparison site such as moneysavingexpert.

We use a Lebara one in our router only gives 30GB roaming but its only £1.60/month. that combined with our phones gives us 85GB enough for a couple of weeks then we buy a local sim for the router.

We have a number of options;
Iphone with Tesco 250gb sim (full allowance in EU)
Iphone with 30gb sim (full allowance in EU)
ZTE MU5001 mifi with 50gb Lebara sim (35gb allowance in EU)
Huawei B535 4G router with 350gb THree sim. ( Only works in UK). & Ill may buy a local sim if we go to EU).
We havent failed yet to get a signal that we can stream our Firestick from.
Buy a Firestick, it will give a lot more options for streaming, but not the 4K Select.

What’s wrong with Smarty?

We have two unlimited data EE sims for our phones and a 10GB data only sim for the router, all three are currently £45 and we can gift unlimited data to the data only sim whenever we like, also includes roaming in the EU.
This deal was achieved by going into a shop armed with information about 3’s offers and saying we were thinking of changing.
Decent offers are only available in a store, though check the online offers be you go in and have it written down to remind you.
We’ve just had notice that it be rising to £49.50 in April.

Just ask EE to give you free EE roaming. I did and have 3 unlimited sims with EE all with free EU roaming. I dont have a 25mb limit either. Worth asking. If you have broadband with them then you get unlimited sims.

Using your mifi in the UK is an easy option.
Just buy a SIM card on a rolling monthly plan with enough data to cover your needs and put it in your mifi. Currently Lebara are offering very cheap deals and I can confirm they work in a mifi.

Travelling abroad is more complicated.
You need to sort out roaming on your phones plus buy a SIM card for the mifi. The best option for this is usually to buy a local one in the country you are visiting. How long you are going to be abroad also is an issue to consider.
