I am thinking of buying a Compass Avantguarde 200 (2006) and have noticed that these are no longer manufactured.

I was concerned about getting hold of spares in the future and wondered if another manufacturer took them over.

Also are they good value for money as I have been told that they are the Skoda of the motorhome world.

Any other feedback, views or experiences ( good or bad) would be appreciated.

Thank ayou

A good value basic van made by Eldiss they have just ditched the Compass name now only sold as Elddis Autoquest.

Don't let spares worry you the chassis cab is standard Fiat/Peugeot .
In the conversion all the utility items cooker/fridge/heating etc., come from the same few manufacturers that supply the industry, all fixtures and fittings again are generally available. the only items likely to be custom made are the cupboards & there are companies that can make ones to match if required.
Most manufacturers change designs every few years so even if the model was current a 4 year old one is unlikely to be the same as a current one.

very true lenny, there are vehicles motorhomes and caravans around that are 30years old but as stated most bits are standard throughout the years

Skoda of the world is a very apt phrase. A basic van as stated but they are good value for money. It's an old fashioned design built to a budget with necessary compromises. Don't expect it to match the german vans for engineering and the italian vans for style. Accept it for what it is.

If its been well looked after and serviced, then there is every reason to expect it will give you years of good service.

We bought a 2004 Elddis Autoquest 100 (equivalent to Compass Avantgarde 100) nearly four years ago and have been very pleased with it. We go to shows with Fun regularly and have never seen another van that shouts out in a way that would make us want to trade it in.

Also had a few Skoda cars in the past and if the Elddis/Compass vans are the Skoda of the MH world then they are the equivalent of the post VW takeover rather than the stuff produced under the communist regime

Eventually bought an Elddis Firestorm because we wanted seat belts in the rear. This is going to be our first weekend away in it,hopefully going against the flow of traffic ,Cornwall to Devon. Staying on a Caravan Club CL which I think we will like a lot more than their big sites that we have used in the last few years with our old Vw type 2. Wild camping really appeals to us having done this back in the 70s but we thought on the first tryout we would be better off on a site.
