Negative reading A on control panel.

Hi all, I only came across the make specific forum s the other day, and while it's not a pressing matter, one thing has been bugging me since we got Mouse (our 2003 integra HB 690).

On the control panel above the door, we have V for both leisure and engine batteries, which works fine. Next to it, and before the water button, we have A, again in a battery symbol which gives a reading only relating to the leisure batteries in amperes. This reads -84.1 to -83.9, no matter what is on or off.

What sort of reading should this be giving?
What does it represent?
Does anyone have any idea as to how this could be fixed to give the correct readings?

We have gone through a fair amount with the batteries, and identified a few faults (replaced the leisure batteries, and the positive connections on the engine battery (though we need to do the connection on the fuse panel on the negative terminal on the engine battery as well), so we now have a fairly good handle on what does what, but this reading continues to bug me. Any helpful comments will be hugely appreciated.

Ok, this is just a guess!
The ammeter works by measuring voltage across a "shunt". This will be between the battery and any load. If original kit probably in the charger/ fuse box thingy.
On drawing current a small voltage can be measured across the shunt, so there will be a heavy cable each end of the shunt , one to battery, other to fuses and load. Also a skinny wire each end of the shunt going to a control box to interpret that small voltage into amps to be displayd on the screen.
Maybe one of those skinny wires is broke or missing? Hence a reading that is always the same?

Have the batteries been changed and the panel not recalibrated? A lot of panels if the batteries are disconnected the panel has to be re-set up.

So, this is, I believe the shunt. It has one large cable to it from the batteries, and many smaller cables running from it towards the fuse board (?) There is definitely no small wire on the feed side running to the control panel, but i guess there is one from the other side (otherwise i assume it would read 0), or potentially both wires are on the same side of the shunt.

Would I do any damage by moving the wires across the shunt to see whether it makes a difference?

No you wont do any damage moving wires to other side of the shunt.
Perhaps you could give us make and model number etc of the control panel and any fuse board? If thats the only shunt will definately need a skinny sense wire each side to give amps output on panel.
I,m guessing van may have been modified by previous owners so may not be as original converter intended.

The control panel just says Euramobil on it, so not sure of the number.
The fuse boards are as shown below.

That system is made by CBE as shown on the bottom right of the 2 fuse units. Also at the bottom centre are the model numbers you need i.e DS500EM ( could be DS50 OEM) and DS321. The control panel is also CBE. You should find details on the CBE website.

There are lots of minor variations for individual M/H


Not familiar with cbe kit but from photos looks like it is rebadged cbe kit.
