Hi all.I purchased one of the above to charge my Lithium battery from Roadpro but the instructions leave a lot to be desired and Roadpro are closed until the 6th.It is classed as a 25 amp 5 stage charger.I know it’s a long shot but has anyone got one of these fitted who can shed any light as to what the 5 stages are?The Bluetooth display is showing the battery is 100% but the charger is still putting 3 amps in.Any help greatly appreciate,thank you.

I don’t have one but if you have set the dip switches to the LiFePO4 setting then you are probably not using all 5 stages because they are not needed for Li. When it is full the voltage probably drops back to a maintenance level of about 13.6-13.8V and the 3A could just be what your 12V system is currently using.

Thanks very much for your helpful reply.I have turned the 12V system off at the isolator and now it is showing 1 amp charge which may just be trickle charging?The fan’s have also stopped which I’m taking as a good sign?

First thing to say is that lithium batteries do not require or like a trickle charge phase. There is no trickle charge phase in the LiFePO4 charge profile. The charging profiles are listed in the manual. Allow me to translate the weird language these natives speak.

IUIa = 3 stages, I = constant current, U = constant voltage, Ia = constant current trickle charge.
IUUa = 3 stages. I = constant current, U = constant voltage, Ua= constant voltage trickle charge.
IU = 2 stages. I = constant current, U = constant voltage. Note, no trickle charge.

The LiFePO4 profile is IU.

Thank you autorouterI think I was premature in my previous reply.The 1 amp charge soon stopped and the charger showed a green LED signifying charged.It does seem to be working as it should.My next problem is removing the original charging cable from the Sargent’s 500 controller.At the moment I have just tureed the battery charger switch to off.Dont know what would happen if both chargers were on at the same time but it doesn’t seem like a good idea.

The original charger will have diodes (electrical one-way valves) to prevent any back-feed of charge into it. No need to disconnect it, but don't switch it on because it will have a trickle charge stage that will degrade the lithium battery eventually.

Again Autorouter many thanks that will save me an afternoon taking the panel apart?
