I am a newbie ex caravaner for 40years
Hello All,
I will be picking up our new Carado T447 at the end of the month and it has the new Euro 6 engine 230/130HP fitted and I was wondering if any of you Funsters have the same motor,if so what are your views on the performance /fuel consumption ?, the Carado will be around 3.500 ton loaded and I am hoping that 130HP is up to the job.
Thanks
Mike

Mike, you'll have no issues at that weight. The 130 is more than up to the job.

Nice van BTW (y)

Mike looks like a similar sized MH to our 7.1 mtr Bessacarr E560 which has the older Multijet 1 - 130 bhp engine and it usually runs full at 3500kg and the only place i would like more power is on long drawn out hills , other than that it does the job well.

Mike, one thing you asked about was fuel consumption.

Our first van (130bhp) was only 6.5m long and ran at 3.6T but the fuel economy suffered because we had a 3.1m hi-line front pod which in all honesty did reduce the mpg figures over a low profile van such as yours.

We achieved 25mpg but I'm sure this would have got better if we had kept the van and had allowed the engine to run-in.

I would suspect that your initial reading will be 26-27mpg to start with before improving once the engine has been used a bit more.

All the best,

Andrew
