We are still looking for a motorhome and although we originally wanted a fixed bed with a garage under the bed, we haven’t been able to find one so far. Either we keep looking and hope something comes on the market or we start looking at other layouts. Can anyone tell me where they keep things like outdoor chairs etc etc in vans that have a lounge which converts to a bed? Do you use the wardrobe and have umbrella type chairs? Our last (and first van) had a French bed with fairly decent storage so we kept all the water hose, cable, levelling ramps, outdoor table and chairs in garage under bed. We have to keep our van below 21 feet for storage so this is another limiting factor. Motor homes that have a lounge which converts do feel nice and spacious and I hope I wouldn’t get fed up making bed up?? Any comments welcome.

Our previous AS Broadway had lounge to covert into beds. It became a bit of a fag and we were only converting to 2 singles! The issue was getting the bedding in and out of the lockers.
As for chairs, ours went behind the cab seats. They fitted in the gap between the cab seats and the lounge seats. Once on site they were either outside, ready to sit on, or under the van ( folded down, obviously!)

Hi Lizi,
we bought a 2004 Pilote Galaxy 270 A Class in 2014. this van has the usual front cab drop down bed ; however and most importantly, it has a heated Al -Co kober double floor. therefore all of our food, outside chairs / table, spares, awning , groundhseets , gas etc etc; fits inside the double floor. All of the services/ water tanks are located inside the heated double floor. Also loads of internal storage.

Van length is just over 6m. We would not change it.
Best of luck in your search.

Our previous MH had an end lounge. The lounge was lovely and making up the bed each night wasn't a problem in itself (it only took a couple of minutes), but because we only had the one sitting area we both had to get up/go to bed at the same time. Which did become a problem because one person couldn't have lie-in if the other one wanted to get up and have a cuppa.

Storage was also a problem: one of the large sofa lockers was entirely taken up with bedding (including a mattress topper to smooth out the jigsaw-piece cushions) which just left the other one for everything else. It was pretty big but not big enough for proper outside chairs to fit in it :( so they had to travel in the shower (and be dumped in the cab on overnights where everything needed to stay inside). And that did become annoying after a while.

We now have an A-class Rapido with a end lounge plus a drop-down bed which has resolved the bedtime issues totally. It also has a mini-garage across the back under the rear sofa which fits the outside chairs (and a lot of other things) and lots of underfloor storage. But at 7.5m its too long for you.

I do recall several years ago being pretty impressed by the Pilote G600L: only 6m, large spacious lounge (front lounge rather than rear, but much larger than you usually see), drop-down bed over the cab and a good-sized storage locker at the rear.

With our hymer, the long sofa pulls out to make good sized single, opposite is the dinette which can also be pulled out to make really large double( adult size)
Or put both together and have a kingsize bed, yes only takes 5 mins good to put together, but each person can have separate area to sleep, or there is also the over cab which is either great storage or ( penthouse suite for the grandkids)

Take a look at the Frankia Plus range; they may suit what you’re looking for.
