I would have thought that was way over the top . I currently pay around £280 for an Autotrail Miami on a 2008 plate with RH specialist Insurance and includes European Breackdown.:thumb:

We are with Caravan Guard. Quote last year was less than my car and that was on a two year replacement new. I think it was about 260 for a new van. This year have gone back with them as pretty much the same but have added on european cover and breakdown just over 300 for a van valued at 32k. I have found them very pleasant to speak to and knowledgable. Haven't had an accident but the 2 year replacement was the clincher for me, particularly as we were new to motrhoming, also my car is an MX5 so quite a contrast in size:Eeek:. (this was my expression for the first couple of drives)

My mother in law was paying 400. We weren't able to have NC guarantee, which I always have on the car for the first year as it was a new policy, but they did give NC against my car policy. Not sure what it was. This year have been given that facility.

when I was taking out the policy another motorhome specialist was very agressive and changed his quote on a daily basis trying to match. I didn't like his attitude when I told him no, so certainly won't go to them even at a later date.

Hope this is of help.

regards

Karen

Have you been on line with SAGA, I found by going on line quote dropped from £477 to around £340. I still went to Safeguard as I resented the rip-off implication from SAGA

Hi wasp, and all,

I too have found Saga quote expensive when I've tried them. :Eeek:

I've been with Alan Blunden last 2 years. £250 -ish with full UK breakdown cover and 30 days Euro breakdown cover on a 1996 6 berth Swift.

Worth the cost of a call! - 01702 456321. I've no connection with them, just a satisfied customer!

Do let us know how you get on... I'll be phoning around just as a matter of course in a couple of months but I bet I end up staying with them....

regards

john

We used the broker 'Insurance Choice', Who at one time supported the FUN. They have provided our cover this year and were very competative. The cover is with Chaucer Insurance. Our MH has a gross mass of 6ton.

If you make an enquirie mention that you were recommended by a member of Motorhomefun. Might encourage more sponsership for the Fun.
Web address is 'www.insurancechoice.co.uk

Hope this is of help. :thumb:

:thumb:We would recommend NFU (Louth office). Lovely to talk to and when we renewed this year it cost £570 for the rv, contents, car and trailer.
