Since 1964 Gosh that makes me feel old.
Been tearing my hair out at the screen washers on our old motorhome. I've fitted a brand new pump & it hasn't helped one little bit. Idea's on what to do will be very gratefully received.

Have you checked that the plastic tubes haven't become blocked? I had a similar problem last year, ended up having to replace a couple of lengths of tubing and a couple of pipe connectors. Does the pump work if the output pipe is removed?

As SteveJ said I’m no telling how to suck eggs, but also check that a pipe hasn’t come off and spraying all over something else😊

As above does the pump work? If yes remove output and blow through, jets may need a clean out by a pin. You have of course filled the fluid up?

Does the pump run? If so remove the outlet pipe to see if it pumps liquid when you operate it. If it does both those things use a cycle pump on the tube to check whether it's blocked. If those tests are all OK either follow the run of the pipe to the jet or run it long enough to see a puddle form under the van. The pipe run isn't very long.

What killed the last pump? that awful screenwash that sets like a jelly in the tank? then it will be blocking the pipes and jets too. either replace or soak the pipes and jets in hot water an flush through. Personally I would replace the old plumbing as the old stuff will be brittle anyway

Sorry folks, meant to say that the pump is working, there is fluid in the bottle. So now I'll try some of the other solutions. There is a trickle of water at the passengers side, so it'll be pull that lot out tomorrow & try again.

The last pump was running fine but just wasn't pushing the water through the now obvious cruddy pipes. I'll keep at it.

Most likely is blocked pipes, the pump can get airlocked but it is quite unusual as they should self prime, just give the pipe a good old suck if it is airlocked (after checking for blockages of course unless you like the taste of crud that is)

Start at the pump and remove the outlet pipe, when you press the button do you get water out? If yes follow the pipe to the next junction and repeat. If no the problem lies at the pump or perhaps the filter in the water tank is blocked.

The jets from the screen washer can be removed if it’s a Ducato based motorhome. They push out the side.

On our old MH it was sediment in the bottom of the tank that had formed a solid layer stopping water getting into the pump

As others have said. Try sticking a pin in the little holes that smoosh the water out. Normally works, fingers xd for Peggy and her MOT

I've found a bit of fine fuse wire is better but you'll be too young to remember what that was!;)

Aside from the washer issue - has the MOT been extended automatically to January?

I'm going to petition DVSA at the next testers seminar to make that an official failure term
" windscreen washers failed to smoosh sufficiant water"
It will certainly be used in Pecks Hill Garage.

No, it was due on March 23rd but it was becoming obvious that lockdown was on its way, so we began self isolating, therefore we missed the amnesty.

Robert I hope you discover where the blockage in the pipework is very soon & hope its an easy fix(y)
Sometimes you have to think outside/inside the Box.
If the pump is pumping, and there is only a little squirt coming out the nozzle, then I would check The Prostrate Gland, cos they are known to fur up with old age.
Oh! must run...again!
Good luck.
