I was struggling to find somewhere to get my 8.8 metre tag axle motorhome MOT'd as pits seem to be out of favour in the modern world and there are few MOT garages that have a big enough ramp for tag axles. I almost found one place but I had to measure between the centre of the front and rear axles and 5 metres was his maximum and mine was 5.3 metres.

Anyway here is the place that I have found in case it might be of use to anyone. There are out on the road to Sidmouth, past Westpoint and Crealy and the first right after the Greendale Farm Shop and Cafe. Go right through the business park, past Ainscough Cranes, past Greendale Offices, cross the crossroads where a minor road crosses the business park and then up the hill past 4 units on your left and then turn left after Macduff Shellfish and you are there. They repair, service and MOT cars, vans and trucks and the local Exeter NHS trust had a big laundry truck in there having attention whilst I was there.

Taken the Motorhome for its chassis & engine service today and MOT at Devon Trucks as per my original post above. This will be the third year using them for the MOT but first time for a service. Another Motorhome in there being serviced when we arrived this morning!

Ours goes to Benedict’s Bridge Garage at Liverton, just off the A38 at Drumbridges. There’s plenty of height in their workshop and the owner is also a MHer.

I'll give him a call but the other important factor is having the right "rolling road" to MOT the brakes on a TAG axle.

Devon Trucks charged 2 hours labour @£60 per hour for a smaller service to change the engine oil, oil and air filters and the parts including 1 windscreen wiper blade, oil and filters were similar plus VAT and MOT fee of £55. Lots of grumbling about having to work through a letterbox opening!
