Hi, is anyone else having problems with their MetaTrak system? I’m currently experiencing a few.

1. The location map still says I’m in France where I was nearly 3 weeks ago!
2. The Start Inhibit light stays green even though it has been set ( and is definitely working because it won’t turn over )
3. I’m getting NO Event Notifications ( texts or emails ) even when I trigger the alarm
4. If I do a “Position Request” all I get is “ Attention! Address not available for this event” message on the screen.

All of these problems occur on my iPad, iPhone AND on the MetaTrak website if I log into that too. Help!

Yeah I had a few issues a couple of days ago but a quick call to them sorted it out, Tony the tech guy run a whole load of checks with me and the van over the phone to check everything out. Everything seems good now ??

Try sending the System Restart command.

Why? It doesn't matter where the van is. You send the command from your phone or browser app!
Just tried it. Twice. No change. Marvellous. Looks like I’m gonna have to find a phone number.

Oh and now the f*cking thing won’t even let me disable the ignition kill! Aaaaggggghhhh!
Why the hell did I waste £1500 on a frigging system! No one around at MetaTrak (who couldn’t help earlier) and no one at Vanbitz. Well that’s me truly bollocked. Stuck here unable to move. Fantastic.:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Use your Non Starter over ride blipper to disable it

What did Meta Trak say when you rang them in the week?

I don’t have a blipper. Meta Trak said today ( I phoned them this morning while I was at work at 9am to tell them the app wasn’t working ) he said he’d ring me back. He sent me an email at 16:51 asking me to ring them! Nice. He said they don’t think they can help but for me to try unplugging the unit, leaving it for 10 minutes, plug it back in and see if it worked. Obviously it didn’t. I’m now stranded. Great. I have the override code but that won’t work either. Not good. I use my van EVERY weekend.

There is no over ride code for the Non Starter

There is a electronic over ride 'blipper' do you not have that?

If you PM me your details I will try to get some one into the office tomorrow and we can advise how to manually override the system

You had the issue last Sunday, It would have been easier to help you if you contacted us last Monday!

The only blippers I have are the two blue ones that operate the alarm. I never got one of the electronic override blippers even though they were advertised. I didn’t think I’d ever need one because I’ve never had a problem starting the van before. MetaTrak told me today to unplug the T75 unit, leave it 10 minutes then plug it back in. They also said they didn’t think it would work though. They can obviously see the fault but that doesn’t help me much. There has been a problem with the Meta Trak for a couple of weeks by the look of it, but it was all still working. Now I can’t start the van because the unit won’t unblock the engine start. The System Restart doesn’t do anything, I’m getting NO alarm notifications ( texts or emails ) the map still shows that I’m in France, the position request won’t work either. Oh and I’m 190 miles from home! I work away Sunday night to Friday night and only get back at weekends. I’ll pm you my details but I won’t be with the van after 10:30am tomorrow.

A S R did you resolve the problem with your Meta Trak kit? I’m getting exactly the same symptoms now, and while Meta Trak and Vanbitz are on the case I’m curious to know your resolution.

TIA

I have always been surprised by how quick Meta Trak are to respond (even out of office hours). I can only highly recommend their help line service !!

Be better if it just worked though?😀
To be honest, the support I required was because I had lost/forgotten my code to release the immobiliser - it was user error as opposed to malfunction of the system ...

The alarms tracking seemed to get “ stuck “ and wouldn’t update where I actually was.
It needed to be reset. After speaking with Metatrac I took the alarms internal battery out and left it for about 10-15 mins. After that it re set itself and has been fine ever since.
I did get one of the key fob jobbies too. ( thankfully )
Only very occasionally ( only happened twice in 8 years ) when I get fuel, some garage forecourts seem to “ block “ the immobiliser signal and the van wouldn’t start. One press on the key fob and away it went. I have no idea if this was the cause but it seems to work. The alarm / immobiliser has been faultless apart from that. I would certainly have another installed if I changed my van.

Thanks so much for the reply to my question. I’ll report my resolution here once I have one.

I will also add that Metatrac we’re happy to send an engineer out to me but because I’m ok doing spannering myself I could easily do the work required ( and had the right tools already ) to do the reset. It was just a case of locating the unit and disassembling it to get to the internal battery. They were also happy to replace the unit if it didn’t cure the problem but it worked.
Because it saved them sending an engineer out they gave me a free years subscription! (y)
They were great throughout the whole process and could see what was going on at their end while I was working. Can’t fault them.

The 'cut out' problem (remote immobiliser activation) has happened to me far more frequently.
At least 2-3 times a year, every year.

As you say, petrol stations seem to trigger it, especially in Germany.
I have also had it trigger randomly at traffic lights (several times at Walthamstow)

Also trying to depart from a Ferry (even the 200m crossing the Thames at Woolwich ferry!)
As well as the ferry from Harwich and the ferry from Holland.
I now know to put the immobiliser and alarm into 'service mode' when waiting for a ferry.

It has also happened when the vehicle was having a routine service.

I think the ferry issue is caused by the vehicle apparently being moved but the engine not being on, so maybe it has been put on a low loader and stolen ?? The routine service issue may be similar as they either jack it up, or put it on the ramp.

As for the petrol station and traffic lights I can only presume they have some sort of under the road loop to measure passing vehicles, so that lights and cameras are activated.

Both trackers I've had have a ferry mode so no alerts are triggered between set times when on the ferry, also garage mode for servicing etc.

Frigging well talked that one up didn’t I!
I arrived at the BP garage in Thetford to top up my diesel on my way to my MOT this morning. There was a van filling up on the end pump ( where I have to fill up too otherwise I won’t get out again ) so turn my engine off and patiently wait. Van moves off and I go to start my van…… nope! Turn, turn, turn I go with the key. Nothing. Arse! Hop out of my seat and go and fetch my key fob thingy, one quick press and away we go!
I have absolutely no idea why petrol forecourts upset it but it’s always in one that this happens.
Very strange.

This might be one for AshVanBitz to take up with Metatrac.

Question: Why does the Metatrac immobiliser sometimes self activate when a motorhome is in a fuel station ?

Many of us have had this issue, and for me it seems to happen more in Germany than in the UK.

Do some petrol forecourts have some form of phone signal blocking , most still seem to display the 'no phones' warning next to their pumps. Does Metatrak works by sending a signal on the mobile phone frequencies?

May be wrong, at the back of the grey cells is something about the blip override being phased out on later systems and replaced with a Bluetooth code generated by your mobile/Metatrak app.

Also worth rebooting the phone to ensure nothing corrupted.

Have spoken with MetaTrak about the self-immobilisation and failed to get a definitive answer, they did send me a couple of batteries as one time it occurred and was stuck at a campsite entrance in a complete mobile signal blackspot. Also, one to watch out for: I have had the opposite occur when the immobiliser has been self-disabled

OK, an update on my issue which caused me to ask the new question on this thread.

So, after six weeks or more of being incommunicado, my Meta Trak device has suddenly burst back into life and all functionality is restored. I touched nothing and Meta Trak took no action at their end. The best explanation they could offer was that maybe there was some sort of phone network issue in my locality that has now been resolved.

Not wanting to get into this situation again (vehicle immobilised via app and no way of getting it going again via app) I’m going to investigate getting the override blipper if my system is suitable for one. Seeing some of the comments on this thread, neither do I fancy having the system self-immobilise without some sort of emergency override capability.
