I have been ringing round for quotes as my Insurance is due for renewal. LV are coming out very competitive with 180 days European cover which includes Crotia.
Excesses for accident and windscreens are sensible.
Has anyone any experience good or bad?
The only problem with them is their breakdown insurance. They will not cover any vehicle over 8m.
Has anyone any suggestions for breakdown cover for a van 8.6 m long?
Thanks

I’ve insured just about everything I own with LV for many years. I’ve always found their premiums to be competitive, they answer the phone when you ring them and they’ve always been efficient. No claims, so cannot comment on that but haven’t heard anything bad.

European breakdown with Eurobreakdown (Allianz), again always good to deal with, but thankfully never needed them.

We have Safeguard which apparently now uses LV although a lot more expensive which includes breakdown.

They used to have no cover for anything in the van barring £500 for your radio. This was at odds to their caravan cover. Would be interested if they had changed.

I called Green Flag a few days ago and they only recover vans up to 7.5m
I have cover through Grove & Dean (brokers) who quite a few members use, and they include recovery with their policies only up to 8m / 7.5 tonne.

If you are a member or Caravan and Motorhome club you can obtain through club cover with Green Flag that will cover any size weight or age of motorhome.

I've had car insurance with LV for several years and found them efficient and competitive. I got a renewal quote for my motorhome this week from a well known specialist motorhome insurer with over 15% premium increase to 1018 pounds. LV quoted less than 450 for essentially the same cover. 'No brainer'; My motorhome is now insured with LV !

Just a quick update, I have now insured with LV. Very competitive premium with good cover including 180 days in Europe which suits us as we can only leave house unoccupied for 60 consecutive days as per T's and C's for home insurance. Lower excess than previous insurer. Very quick and easy over the telephone. Unlimited windscreen cover with no loss of no claims discount. I will now get a quote in March for home and contents and later in year for cars. Only drawback is that I could not take their breakdown cover (quoted at £110) as it is limited to 8m so still have that one to sort out. It is a bit of an issue once you go over 8m in length. Tried a few now for a quote for breakdown. Tried ADAC but will not take on any new customers in the UK. Any more suggestions? Got quote from RAC but quite expensive. Driver Guardian quoted £179 for UK and Europe.
Thanks

We have had LV for 6 years and they paid for a new windscreen on our A class which was broken when I was on my way to pick up our new motorhome. It was the dealer the following day after the insurance had been transferred that told me the windscreen was broken. Once I explained the situation they paid the dealer plus they are very competitive.

If your with CMC go with Green Flag.
If you go for the top cover it does Husband and Wife in any vehicle.

I dropped the RAC a couple of years ago had been with them since the 80’s
