Just had HPC levellers fitted by LNB Towbars at Aztec West, Bristol. They did a very neat and careful job, even fitting a chequer plate to reinforce the plinth in the garage where we opted for the pump to be installed. They took great pains to make sure that I was happy with the planned work, gave me a fine courtesy car and then ensured that I was completely satisfied with the job. Couldn’t have asked for more. Highly recommended. (y)(y)

The system itself is a joy to use too.

Worth knowing they’re good in case we ever bite the bullet and get one of the swing out bike racks. They do one a bit like the Busbiker type for PVCs. Put it in the review section.

Thanks for the info 😊 why not put review in the reviews section as well for fellow funsters to see as when this goes off the front page it’s lost in the ether?👍😊

Yep, can also recommend their A Frame‘s for tow cars. Great location for anybody heading down to Somerset/Devon/Cornwall etc. 2 mins off the M5 at Brizzle. They also have a huge parking area where you can wait with the van etc. top guys. We travel from Lincolnshire to use them…….

Useful to hear they provided top service, because the company is relatively local to us. Handy to keep in mind. Glad you're pleased with the job and thanks for posting! (y)

Made the journey from Devon and wasn’t disappointed!

It looks like the end for LNB! CVA meeting in September indicates £600k owed to HMRC.
Website is down, Facebook page is gone….

That’s bad news , they’re the place near us who we’d planned to use if/when we went for the fancy bike rack.

You may have had a lucky escape…. This is some of their workmanship… 8F506E53-545A-4B9B-A8A6-56570A242268.webpIMG_5195.webpIMG_5190.webpIMG_5192.webp

Oh, that's not good news. We have one of their A-frames and electronic braking system in the toad, which all has an annual safety inspection/check. To be honest, our experiences with them weren't always great but better the devil you know. There's no other representatives of that American system in the UK as far a we know ☹️

We feel for the staff though. Tough for them.

Just heard that LNB have closed!
A pity as I found them to be a very good and helpful company. with excellent and knowledgeable staff.

This means that Armatages of Yorkshire now have a virtual monopoly on fitting towbars to motorhomes for the entire UK!
(I think the only competitor still standing is Motorhome Towbars of Lincoln)

Don't forget about Mike Parkinson near Blackpool if you don't live down south!
Cheers, Dave

How did you hear that LNB has closed Brains and is it permanent this time?

For us, it means the loss of A-frame system servicing. I'm not aware of any other British company dealing with that particular American A-frame system.

As far as I know, Trident Trailers in Maidstone still fit towbars to (most) motorhomes.

If you look online it says permanently closed.

Something happened to their website towards the end of last year, I think maybe following the CVA? When I've tried to visit the website since then I get a warning that the site may be unsafe. Further digging seemed to suggest that the website belongs to a shopping centre (?) in the Midlands. All a bit odd to say the least.

They’re no longer listed on the HPC site as dealers. As far as I know, they were the main importers.

There is company in Cardiff who fit and service Towmaster 2

Will try to remember their name and track them down

SGM Towing..

However, their current website shows no details of Towmaster 2 systems, but I did enquire a couple of years and they said they could service it.

I was at a campsite near Poole over the weekend, a man with a dog walking past saw the very new "LNB Towbars" sticker on my towbar and told me he was a local (to LNB) and they had closed permanently.

Trident Trailers of Maidstone are my 'local' towbar fitting company, they fitted the towbar to my car.
When I called them last summer, they said they no longer did motorhomes, not even ones like mine with a conventional Mercedes Sprinter chassis.

I had a Memo chassis mounted cycle carrier fitted by Jacques of York who were very good.

They also do towbars I believe…

Have you up plated your van, I have lost track a bit so apologies if I have asked you this?
Hi Carolyn,
Yes, I went from 3.5T to 3.9T via SVTech which was a paperwork only exercise.
Also got Motor Caravan on the V5 after sending the DVLA lots of pictures and happily got PHGV as well so cheaper tax 😁

Ah yes I do remember now. Thankyou. We messed up doing the D2D4 for Nick before Panama and now haven’t got time before his 70 th so he’s lost his C1. Our cock up. I don’t know if you can retrospectively get it back.

Yes no problem getting it back a friend who let his lapse at 70 just got his C1 reinstated at 78.
