Lets see your dog

Not our dog but the street dogs in Romania are generally well fed, healthy and very friendly. They’ve accompanied us on walks three times so far this trip. They’re quite often massive sheep dogs

They sometimes need a brush or a bath :-)

I suspect they’re not truly wild, they’re living around human settlements, keeping the rubbish down and watching for strangers in return for free food.

Interesting comment, ours has spent the last few weeks chasing a ball around on the beach , naturally covered in sand.
We have noticed that he has started having stomach issues and the odd 🤮 getting worse as the days go on.
We will give him a break and see if he improves.
He has a vet appointment Friday so will ask the question.
Has there been any improvement and did you mention the beach to the vet?

Yes there has been an improvement, still has beach walks and run around but no ball to gather sand that is then swallowed in fair quantities.
The vet simply said that some dogs are affected more as the bushy fur around their muzzle collects the sand which can then be swallowed.
It appears that sand stuck in his throat causing irritation and hence minor vomiting with a red tinge .
Vet was more concerned if they drank seawater ( which he does not do).

So much to Rollos disgust no ball on the beach for now.

This is 14 year old Tazzy (Tasmine), named after the Tasmanian Devil due to the noise she makes when playing. She seems to enjoy being upside down and often jumps off the bed hoping we'll catch her! 😄 We can do just about anything with her as she's so trusting.

Pippa enjoys a ball on the beach but we use a smooth ball (tennis balls collect a lot of sand ets) and she has short stints of ball the rest of the time she amuses herself.
One dog we had found chewing driftwood fun but one bit she found was sodden in sea water and made her very sick.

We use a smooth ball not tennis type but it still gathers sand and part of the play is burry it and dig it back up.
We seem to have the effects under control now so we are trying to limit the amount of sand ingested.
One problem is that if he can’t have his ball he looks for driftwood and that is a problem as he will not only chew it but swallow the debris.😫
