Away in France the temperature plummeted overnight so at 6 this morning I put the Alde heating on gas to take the chill off. It's a 3020 in a 2017/18 van. Other than testing the system on electric a while ago and using it regularly for hot water only it's the first time it's been used for heating so I wasn't really surprised when it seemed like some of the radiators needed bleeding but the van slowly warmed up. However at 7.30 the system switched itself off. The control panel was dead, wouldn't turn on and I thought a fuse must have gone or the panel was faulty when suddenly it switched itself on and started working again. I didn't touch it and it was off for maybe 20 minutes or so. Any ideas what could be the problem? Thanks.

It's just gone off again. Faulty or some kind of protection circuitry cutting in? Low voltage maybe (not on hookup)?

We've had the same problem which was fixed by Alde ... I think it was a faulty panel.

If you go into the settings menu on the control panel and select "service" You should see a n orange triangle, press this and you should get a list of the last 20 errors. This should give you an indication of the problem.

How cold is it? could it be an LPG problem?

I can't really check anything because the control panel has gone off and won't come back again. I will have to get in touch with Alde as Brian suggests thanks.

Check the control panel connections behind the panel and the boiler.

Check all the connections for 12v at the boiler too.

Sounds like a supply problem and not an Alde problem?

Thanks Brian I have emailed Alde and will phone them later. It seems odd doesn't it that we both have had the same problem in the same make and model of van built at the same time?

Ha ha, I don't think it's anything to do with the particular make or model ... probably due to a batch of duff panels which Hymer had in stock around that time.

Our original panel used to show the ongoing faults which usually were just blips and not a fault ... the replacement panel doesn't have this feature and we don't get the problems.

I'm sure Alde will have a solution for you,

Good luck

The problem seems to have been solved. Alde got back to me really quickly and suggested the first thing I did was check the data cables to the boiler. After dismantling the dinette seat I took the inspection cover off the boiler and saw two tiny, cheap and insubstantial looking data plugs, gave them a wiggle and there was a click and the boiler sprang into life! I guess the problem might reoccur in the future as the plugs really didn't give the impression they were made for a bumpy life on the road but at least I know what to do now.
