I’ve searched the usual suspects but not found any info on overnight stops rather than campsites, we arrive in Douglas at nearly midnight in a few weeks time and would be good to have a few places to stop.
Going for Classic TT, have got permit for Sulby Claddagh and up at Ayres Nature Reserve, would love to hear of some options further south at the beginning of the week.
Thanks in advance

You can stop in Port Erin on the pier and there is plenty of other places to stay.

There was an official overnight stop (signed as such) between The Cat Sanctuary and Douglas. Sadly I was being wittered at by two different people at the time*, and didn’t get to note anything useful like it’s exact location. It was glaringly obvious from the road, though.

*One is seventy four and deaf, and thus couldn’t hear the other, who is nine and didn’t care about what the other was saying.

Really jealous. We've spent the last two summer's in the isle of man. Apart from sulby claddagh and Ramsey mooragh, we never used a campsite.
For your first night, as you leave the ferry turn left, cross the blue bridge and turn left again towards the gas depot. You can park along side the harbour. No restrictions 18.00 - 08.00.
As 100brian says, port erin is good, (photo of us parked for 4 nights with no issues)
I can give you a lot of info on parking spots.
PM me your details if you want.

Now that brings back a few memories, we used to throw an old Tarp ( actually my grandads old "Gas Cape" cut up) over the bike and crawl underneath to sleep usually after a few "beverages". Saw Duke, Surtees, and the last ride of Bob Macintyre in the Junior event, before he died at Oulton in the August. What does surprise me is that the Island does not seem to pursue "Wild Campers"?. Unlike lots of the mainland these days.

We tend to stay the first night on the prom in Douglas so we can have walk down the Strand to the harbour for breakfast. Go past the big Empress hotel and turn around by the cinema. Look for the parking signs, they change to being able to stay overnight about there. You must turn around because the only sensible route out of Douglas is back past the harbour and onto the circuit at Quarter Bridge. Every other route is a megga hill. Apply to the Ramsey Commissioners for a camping permit in Mooragh Park - £20 a year! - The MoHo services are also at the end of the park.
You can park on the prom nearer to the Ramsey and the harbour bridge but there is traffic noise. You can park on the circuit in various spots- keep a look out as you go round. Kepple Gates good but you need to be the night before. So jealous - we're not going this year, are you taking a bike?

Thanks so much for the replies ?
Looking forward to a 1st trip over there, never quite managed it as a yoof which is probably a good thing as the lack of a speed limit might have been too tempting back then ?
Yes always travel with our CCM Spitfire Scrambler in the “garage” ?

When I was over during the TT there was quite a few MH parked at the docks in Peel.

Hi.
On the douglas prom will be tight this year lot of road works going on there.

PeteH spot on. It is the bungalow. The motorcycle museum that was there has been relocated to Santon nr Castletown.
With regards to ferry cost, we paid £337 for 8.5m May out, September return.

Any idea what the cost would be with a 2 bike trailer?

Just out of interest, what's the cost of taking the motorhome to IoM?
Phil
We paid £360 for a 7.4m, Liverpool to Douglas then originally back a week later though we’ve changed our return crossing to Dublin then spending 10 days in Ireland before returning Belfast to Liverpool which I’m guessing sails very near the IOM and only costs )120 ?

Hi, just noticed you're travelling from Liverpool. We can't use Liverpool, we have to cross from Heysham due to the length and weight of our van. I believe in Liverpool, there is a floating jetty which has a weight limit. Also I think access to the boat is via some tight turns. Maybe worth checking

Tynwald inn is a Britstop pub. Stayed there a couple of weeks ago, very good curry. Worth considering. We also quite often take our van down to Scarlett (Castletown) nice spot.

I hope all will be ok, they asked for length and weight of Moho when booking ?

The loading ramps can be very steep at Liverpool. Watch out for the overhang going on and off.
