Evening.

I'm after some diagnostic software to get to the bottom of my most recent throttle body problem and just wanted to check that ECU multi scan is what I should get?

I tried the free version with my vcds (VW) cable but had no joy so will be buying the registered version along with a cable.

Unless there's something better?

If ECU multi scan is the kiddie, which cable do I need? I've got a 2019 Ducato 2.3 multijet.

Thanks all 👍🏻

Ducati's have both a high-speed and low-speed CAN bus. Half the modules are on high-speed and rest on the low-speed bus. For the low-speed bus you need a 'Yellow' cable.

With just the OBD reader plugged in you can read the blue units below. To read the green entries, you need to use a 'Yellow' A3 cable with the OBD reader and MultiECUscan software.

look up a company called gengen its where i got mine and the leads

On a 2019 you may have a SGW if so you will need a bypass lead for it as well.. with out it you will only be able to read faults A word of warning many have bought leads from Amazon and eBay to find they don't fully function Gendan are a little be more expensive but do work

Is this the one I need??

I did see sgw mentioned on another site but the Ducato wasn't listed in the affected vehicles.
Think around that time U May Not have one my 2020 boxer hasn't but it seems to be pot luck to a large degree..you'll soon know if you can only read ECU !

As long as the kit has the yellow adapter you should be fine.
Never needed any other for what I have used it for but no harm having them

I'd rather only buy the leads/adapters I need. The software is £50 so do I just need the yellow adapter and then a main lead? If so, which lead is best?

Thanks all 👍🏻

You need a modified elm connector and the lead the link you posted tells you what each lead does. As they say the kit contains a faster and may be wireless version of the modified elm connector

I would think you only need the yellow one but others may know better. Mine is for a 2020 boxer so slightly different maybe for a fiat as multiecuscan is designed for fiat although most modules are common for peugeot citroen except engines which are fiat specific

It may seem expensive but fiat I believe charge £165 for a diagnostic check an independent will charge around £65 just to proxy align say a new air bag ecu

Personally I would go for wired elm as opposed to wireless. Less chance of bad communication especially if doing a proxy alignment

Do you know what ECU your boxer is ? The one on mine is delphi so eum doesn't do much

Not sure or how I would find out but MES does everything I need including TPMS

Most professional remappers use wireless and they are reprogramming a large part of the ECU...so I guess they must be ok

That might be so but how difficult is it to plug a lead into the obd port knowing it will work everything compared with a Bluetooth one which may loose signal at a crucial moment
Remembering that we are only DIY not professions with expensive kit

Being old school I agree and bought the modified elm lead but think it's just me being over cautious and would assume with lots of low end to high end diag ki now being wireless it must work.I now use diagbox also hardwired

If you want to borrow a set up before you decide to commit to buy I have one that Funsters have been borrowing, It is out on a lend presently but it should come back next Sunday 27th so could ship it out on the Monday.
Let me know and I will book it in

That is amazing and really appreciate that offer.

I think I'm going to just buy one as will want to keep it in the van when on holidays in Europe.

Very worthwhile...we had the Adblue no restart counter kick in ..when we were in France, drove home then no restart used diagbox( Peugeot equiv to EUM) to get it going again...had Adblue deleted

For the possibility of needing it on the road I would carry a full set of leads ..for the vehicle £150 is nothing compared to a potential breakdown cost...my diagbox...s/H laptop and lexia with adaptor etc was over £200 but one fault has saved me possibly £2k and a wait for parts in Spain...where we are now

this doesn't include the new vlinker now sold by Gendan
2019 Adblu or non ad blue twinegr. the twin egr will not have SGW. the adblu may.

Mines the non add blue twin egr model. So would this kit be the one to get....??

Thanks again all

The simple approach is to get all from Gendan including support if you need it.
Bits and pieces approach is slightly cheaper.

Thanks again all that will cover you ..you may have bits ... hopefully most of them you'll never need.but ..better to have and not need than need and not have...oh and think yourself lucky it's not Peugeot took me best part of a day to download and get diagbox working !
Yes all bases covered! Think yourself lucky it's not Peugeot took me best part of a day to download and install Diagbox...and because it's a non legit copy of main dealer software no backups or updates...in fact if it gets online Peugeot will delete it ... apparently!

If it’s an early, eg. March, 2019 ,like mine, the engine is probably 2018 an probably will not have SGW

To follow on, if you get the PC version and you are using Windows 11, configuring the ports is a sod. It’s beaten me
