Hi, is anyone using the Netgear M1 or M2 for internet access?

Does anyone know of any reviews other than on Youtube etc?

From what i have seen on youtube, the units are very good but expensive! i dont want to be spending a lot of money if there is a much cheaper but performs much the same as the Netgear Nighthawk M1 or M2

Thanks

I've not used one but I do know someone why has one and he says its great, I usually just set my iPhone up as a router and use the works data.

Still no one else? Bump!

I am using an M2 - great bit of kit. Always get a signal so far from Vendee, through Loire and Mayenne valleys. I was using it for streaming TV to watch the football and it worked perfectly.

Got mine from EE for £150 but was locked for 6 months, another couple of months and I can use whatever sim I want. Very reliable, can connect all devices at the same time. Is actually faster than my home broadband.

Only difficulty I have found was in trying data offloading to utilise free or cheap wifi access. I tried it on a campsite and it picked up I was using more than one device (unlike the Motorhome Wifi set up which allows me to connect everything at the same time)

It's a bit sensitive around the 'on' switch and I had an issue with charging it up, but I think it wasnt helped by the heat - 38C !!! After a day or so with battery out, it all went back to normal. You can use it to recharge other devices which I have done when phone battery went flat.

If its permanently connected to power then it's a good idea to remove the battery.

Use M1 both on the van and at an industrial unit for cameras. Great piece of kit, I have a dual antenna up on the roof and also connect a Bullet to it for cellular connections when decent free ones are available, it has an easy data offloading feature to switch. The M2 seems a high price for some possible extra speed and 5 g connectivity.

Whats a bullet? Someones selling an M1 for £170, was going to see if they will accept less. Most likely done what MisterB done and bought it with a contract. I'm now thinking I should be buying something pretty recent

Be careful of contract ones. I bought a brand new, on Amazon, free from all locks and it came with an EE lock. They gave me an unlock code but it would not recognise the Voda APN from the sim automatically, I had to load it manually. I could not make that the default which EE remained. So as soon as it lost the Voda signal it tried EE and would not go back to Voda when the signal was available. Found all this as I set up the thing at home and then took it to the unit. They gave me a refund. No wonder it was the cheapest on Amazon!
Bullet. Broken Link Removed Connected to an 8dB roof antenna (thin one in picture) and to the M1 Ethernet port. Not an easy solution for the uninformed, not wishing to be rude. Happy to offer more if you want.

Thanks but I think your set up is much more than I need. Im just really wanting one for Alan to stream his firestick without keep buffering.

It will do that fine assuming a good sim, thats what we do on the van. At the unit I have it streaming 2 cameras.
