Hi everyone :)

One of our headlight covers looks like someone's (not us!) tried to clean the top part of it with a harsh scouring pad. It's left it looking milky instead of clear. Is there anything I can do to restore it, please?

Thank you :)

Wet and dry, in lesser grades, then polish with a cutting compound.

Same as dull headlights.

Apparently toothpaste is as good as anything else

Thank you but......what's a cutting compound, please?
This sort of thing.

It is the same thing as you get with any headlight restoration kit, but when they call it a headlight restoration they then charge you a fortune, for a tinny amount.

A cutting compound (many available) is what a detailed, or body shop will use to remove imperfections from body work. Ideally used with an electric mop (polisher) but doesn’t need to be.

The more you do with the wet and dry paper the less you have to do with the compound. After on my headlights I gave them a quick couple of coats of clear lacquer.

Thank you SO much for your explanation :)
