Due to Covid, Sorn and changing vans last July all my essentials become due round about July and August. (Previously I had made sure they were all about March)

Our ferry is booked in July.
Insurance Due in August, MOT and Service due in July, European breakdown lapsed.

I'd hate to leave everything until the last minute also we'll be three weeks into our European journey when the Insurance is due. I know insurance companies are loathe to give out renewal costs too early as they don't want you shopping around.

30 days normally for renewal quotes. I tried to deal with my car renewal early for my own convenience without success with Admiral, they wouldn't budge. Mind you the phone minions have little autonomy in my experience.

I also believe that in the case of insurance, the earliest a renewal can be agreed is 30 days in advance, or thereabouts.

Nothing to stop you insuring your van early if it is more convenient. Let your current insurance lapse as it maybe more expensive to cancel.

I nearly got caught out. The car insurance was set to auto renew last week, so I thought 'no problem'.

Unfortunately, the credit card number had changed, so I received the new insurance documents, and a cancellation notice, in the same post delivery. It was fortunate I wasn't away travelling, as they only gave 7 days grace to get a new credit card number to them. They didn't phone or email despite having both on file. This was LV.

I have just reinsured my car after a haggle on price with saga as it runs out on 25.05 and I am in Germany till 20.06 over the phone no problem
