Looking to have a couple of weeks + in the Netherlands 3rd week August. I do not normally venture out during peak season and Sch Holls .
Any thoughts. ? Looking to use mainly Aires (of course)
Thanks Martin

About 15 years ago, when we had a trailer tent, we decided there were so many Dutch people in France that surely the Netherlands would be nearly empty?? It didn’t seem that way when we went there the next summer!

We had a great time though.

Holland is always busy, roads are worse than ours for traffic levels and I've only been out of season.

Theirs not so much wild camping and found camp sites expensive might have changed a bit in the last three years head south weathers better
bill

Lots of cheap, friendly mini-campings (like UK CLs), we´ve always found the roads quiet in July and August - just avoid the big cities. We normally spend about 6 or 7 weeks there, but can´t this year because of medical problems.:(

We are here at the moment using aires found on camper contact been here for 2 weeks and haven't had a problem finding a site some of the singing all dancing sites near the coast are around €60
The majority of sites are very quiet .average price on the aires we have used are €17
The one we are on at the moment has only been opened 6 weeks ago which is immaculate and is close to supermarkets and a train station also the owners are so helpful even supply free coffee and tea in their facilities room
Make sure you bring bikes it's the most bike friendly country you will ever find

One tip I would pay for the full version of camper contact at only £5.99 It has been so useful

Don’t do Aires, so no idea if there’s one nearby, but we enjoyed Zierikzee, Camping Kloet a couple of times in last 3 or 4 years. Nice town. Out of season though.

I would think it’s dead in August, all the Dutch are in the south of France or Italy then ?

Does anyone have an aire recommendation after arriving by ferry at the Hook in a week or so (Monday 19th)? We're heading towards Germany but need an overnight somewhere, preferably with somewhere close by to buy a meal. I keep going through CamperContact (+ P4N & SFS) and not coming up with much that looks ideal. Street parking at the aire in Breda looks OK, though it might be quite a walk into the restaurant area, especially as SWMBO is a slow walker. Quite a lot of restaurants I've looked at shut on a Monday.

The ferry docks at 17:15, so I'm discounting any that have reviews saying they get full early. That is ruling out quite a number. I don't really want to have to drive more than about an hour.

Thanks in advance for any hidden gems!

Tripping over Dutch cars, vans and Motorhomes here in the South west UK so l assume on balance that Netherlands should be quiet??

If your struggling to find somewhere then delftse hout camping is only 20 mins drive from the hook.
1 mile from town with restaurant on site.
A lot of people stop en route to Germany
