Have you changed and tested the audio output from the Tv yet?I have been doing some more tests and come to the same conclusion as TheBig1 . Something is banjaxed in the tele. I totally disconnected the Firestick and went to the Smart TV hub. Selected YouTube then a video file. Sound went bad again. It seems that if I connect to the Internet the sound is disrupted.
The TV speaker output is fine other than not amplifiering streaming film sound. I have nothing to test the optical output with other that the Soundbar. The TV in the motorhome does not have an optical output.Have you changed and tested the audio output from the Tv yet?
If you have a CD or a DVD player they often have optical outputs. The TV speaker output is fine other than not amplifiering streaming film sound. I have nothing to test the optical output with other that the Soundbar. The TV in the motorhome does not have an optical output.
Just done another test on a tv in a bedroom with a optical output and a Smart TV hub. Worked fine on terrestrial TV and on YouTube. If you have a CD or a DVD player they often have optical outputs.
Some tv's require you to select internal or external speakers and also change the output format, as does the Firestick. Wrong output from either will give you poor / no sound.
Until all output options have been tested is hard to say the TV is buggered.
Alphatronics TV's don't pass HDMI audio through the analogue output, only the optical connection. Alphatronics saved a couple of € not fitting a DAC (Digital to analogue converter) ... not all standards are standard.
Post the make and model of the TV and Sounder and I will see if I can find the spec for you.
These are screen shots from the Samsung TV and the soundbar spec.If you have a CD or a DVD player they often have optical outputs.

Many thanks for looking up that info. My sound menu is more basic than the one listed. There is no mention of Dolby or stereo anywhere and as the Smart Hub is internal there is nothing to alter for that.Looked up the spec, next to nothing about the soundbar so no luck with that.
Samsung seems a generic manual and states you may or may not have Bluetooth.
Only bit of interest is the part I have marked in the screenshot.
This refers to the settings of the feed to external device, if set to DD+ and amp / speaker can't handle it won't give you sound.
Firestick settings first, then TV output, pcm or bitstream.

Yay, great news and well done.SUCCESS . Messing about this morning with the audio settings on the Fire Stick and remembering the good work done by @VansFli changed the audio output from automatic to PCM. Soundbar works a treat.
Many thanks to all for their input.
I does defies logic. I had to plug the Firestick and reset the audio settings then the others would work. That doesn't add up...
If you have only changed the Firestick settings it shouldn't affect the other inputs.
I did switch off and start again between each step to clear any cache. It does defy any reasoning but that is how electronics are some times. That is definitely not correct, the Firestick settings cannot change the TV options.
With HDMI control now you sometimes have to be careful what unit you are actually controlling if you have smartlink etc enabled.
Without seeing it in the flesh I am running out of answers tbh.
Tv's are like most things, you get what you pay for. Samsung, Sony, Panasonic etc all produce value for money units and then better models with more feature and tech. The balance is finding the one that suits your needs. I tend to avoid the budget stuff as it is usually built to a price.I did switch off and start again between each step to clear any cache. At least I will get a new tele out of it. One in the bedroom, the other in the living room.
Ate Hi Sense any good?
I have a Humax Freesat box but it is just a stand alone connected with a HDMI cable. Are you using the Humax as a pass through, have you tried disconnecting the Humax and try that?
Also the Axtex one in my motorhome only stores one password, adding a fire stick gives you moreWhy plug a firestick into a smart TV ?
Won't the smart TV do all you need
