I’m a newbie
My hubby is a key worker and is needing to work for a day in Bristol And oxford. He usually uses air band b or hotels but of course this isn’t an option. I was wondering if anyone knows of anywhere that he may be able to park A motorhome around either of those areas to save him driving back to Yorkshire in the same day.

Can he not just park up at the location he is working at. A phone call before he sets of should be enough to get permission

I do hope someone comes forward to assist your husband. There are a lot of Funsters who are very unhappy at seeing Motorhomes on the road during lockdown and here you are with genuine need to be on the road.

There's a park and ride just south of Oxford that allows Motorhome overnight stops, not sure if it's OK in the current situation.

The Redbridge Park and Ride in Oxford has no height barrier and allows overnight parking. No mention of motorhomes but maybe give them a call?

Thank you guys. And thanks for not judging. I will look in to the oxford parking and give them a ring tomorrow. He’s been kept working local so far but hes fire safety and needs must.

Bristol City Council have set up an area on The Portway intended primarily for the many motorhome dwellers on the streets of Bristol. However, at first they didn’t have many takers.
Its at this site which is temporarily closed for Rugby.

Whereabouts in Bristol does he need to be ?

I’m sorry we don’t have any room on our drive or outside in the road:(

Cirencester Park C&MC site is ‘open’ for full-timers at present, I believe, and Cirencester is about half-way between Bristol and Oxford. If he’s working for a day at each location, it might be worth giving them a call to see if they can fit him in for the night.....?

There is Motorhome parking at Gloucester services for £23 ,However, I would suggest telephoning and asking if they could assist.

Would it be worth phoning the C&MC? I think they were offering sites for full timers so might be willing to help.

With the current hostility towards motorhomes a less public place to park overnight might be preferable.
Has anyone seen any hostility towards motorhome s I hope not, except perhaps a few posts on here.
I think after the initial close down of sites I don’t think there has been any reports has there ?
i certainly have not had anyone showing hostility whilst I have been on the road. Please don’t think I am being aggressive, just not heard anything

I think there was a bit of paranoia created by social media, I certainly wouldn't worry if I had a good reason to use my MH - it's also my daily drive

Thank you so much everyone. I will let you know how I get on booking somewhere tomorrow. Oh...and how many stink eyes I get from passing motorists.

If he has an fluorescent jacket, either wear it or throw it on the dashboard, that may cool the tongues

hi Andy
oxford park and ride have said unofficially that he can stay and not to draw attention to Himself. Gloucester services no problem, just pay at the petrol station. I can’t get hold of anyone re portway at Bristol. C and MC said rather he stay at the options as they are being strict with full timers and long term key workers who can’t go home.
he’s happy with that so thank you so very much for all the suggestions and support. Really appreciated.

If he does use the Redbridge Park and Ride, he has to use the entrance opposite Go Outdoors to avoid the height barrier.
