Do headlight deflectors still work on the small round headlights like we have on our cathago, I have only ever fitted them on the larger type headlights

You should be able to turn the headlight to LH or RH dip.

I have read on here I think it was that it's very hard to do on the carthago as very limited space

Ours are 2005 vintage Hella 90mm and you have to take a couple of screws out and turn the unit, but YES you need access to the back.

OK if you can't get to the back just stick a bit of tape on the glass, just imagine where the reflection from the bulb would be for oncoming traffic and put the tape there, OR don't drive in the dark;)

If they're anything like the Hella units that were fitted to my Hymer it won't make any difference - they couldn't dazzle anyone.

Yes I must admit they are very poor for a modern vehicle

If they are the older Hella classic lamps just slacken the 3 screws and turn them. If they are the newer lamps just move the leaver on the back.
It will change them from the kick up on dip to a flat beam & you can leave them like it permantly.

I think Carthago and most other manufacturers use the clasic only Hymer using the new ones.
I know 2014 Carthago's still used the classic.

Take the rubber cover off the back if you can't find a leaver they will be the older ones.

In all my trips abroad I have never been checked for headlamp alignment. Point is also that we never drive at night but also if the polisei can see that you have put tape ( or deflectors) on, they will probably never ask. Incidentally I think that you need them even if its daylight and the lights arent even switched on! Me I just put gaffer tape on the lens protectors and dont drive at night!

I am not sure what its like now but when I was lorry driving in Spain 25 years ago I got pulled by the cops as my truck had spot lights above the screen and as I rounded a corner a police car came the other way I dipped the lights then police car turned round and pulled me over. They took my paperwork off me took me to a hotel at 2am and made me pay a 400 euro fine on my DKV card my boss took the lights off before my next trip
