There is no reason why insurance companies should not insure you for Albania (fully comp) but It would not suprise me if they wouldn't. Same with BIH, which you'd probably need to haggle with them about. Each time we go over the water I have to tell my insurance company which countries we will go to, I don't know why. Is this the same for all UK companies? When we lived in Germany our insurance companies didn't need that info, we had a green card and it covered the whole of Europe.
Did the trip through Albania a few years ago. Got insurance (3rd party) at the border - probably wasn't worth the paper it was written on but at least we were legal. No problems whatsoever travelling through. Everyone was very friendly and we got waved at and even saluted a few times. The south of the country is very beautiful.
