I have a 1997 Swift Royal on a Fiat Ducato Chassis and i have notice the step going through the habitation door is really soft and spongy.
i have had a look underneath and its looks solid but when weight is applied to the step you can see it bend.

so a couple of questions.

1:- Is this a common problem ?
2:- Is there wood bonded inside the GRP step moulding?
3:- can you buy the mouldings from somewhere new or is it a case of getting the fibre glassing kit out ?
4:- is the black trim under the door frame just for decoration or does it form part of the step assembly ?

any help or info would be greatly received.

photos attached are of the area underneath showing what i believe to be a previous repair possibly ??

cheers
Duncan
