Hi Fellow travellers hope this thread finds you all well,
I have a problem with the central locking on my 2008 Fiat Ducato 840D Cheyenne, the fuse keeps blowing,
I replace the fuse only for it to blow again sometime in the future, when I was in Spain last Christmas it started blowing the fuse almost immediately, so since then I have been locking the doors manually.
I have decided in my infinite wisdom to try and investigate this myself, now obviously there is a short somewhere, more than likely in the wires which come through the doors, now I’ve looked online and I have found how to remove the door trims etc on the cab section but nothing about removing the panels from the habitation door.
I was wondering if any of you good people have done this before or know how this is achieved.
Many Thanks in anticipation of you intelligent replies. Tony

Check under the flexi where the wire goes from the door through the door frame ,some tend to snap .

Post a picture of your door and a close up of the wires going into the door.
If it is a Hartal door the wires that operate the central locking solenoid / mechanism are usually the green and white wires, they may well be sheared and shorting at the base of the door.
Cheers
Ed

Ok I will do but have to do that tomorrow, the wires at the base of the habitation door have been repaired before but all looks still sound, I might unravel the repair and see if it is OK under the insulation tape etc. when I take the picture tomorrow. Thanks Tony

Actually I've found a picture on line which is a view of the inner door panel exactly like mine but you can't see where the wires go in, but for your info they go through at the bottom of the litter bin you can see in the picture, you will have to wait till tomorrow to see the wires from my pics.
Best Wishes Tony

Any results yet Brakers

I'd bet on the wires going into the door, where they've been repaired before. The joint, being bent & stretched all the time, is a weak point, ours is encased in a rubber flexi-sleeve so has a bit of protection.

Hopefully you won't need access to inside the door but it's relatively straightforward, if a bit long-winded. Around the inside edge, under the door draught strip, you'll see lots of tiny screws which need to be removed - try not to drop them as they're impossible to find if you do..

The door pull needs to come off - looks like yours has capping over the mounting screws, an electrical screwdriver should help there. Mine doesn't come off - another pain!

Also need to unscrew the moulding around the latch handle - look closely and you'll see a deeply recessed screw (or maybe two) which need to be undone.

Then it's just a fiddle getting the panel around the various fittings. Care as it finally comes away as the aforementioned wires will be attached and although they come apart easily enough, they must go back the same way BEFORE the panel is refitted or the lock doesn't work - ask me how I know............!

Re-assembly is just the reverse. Good luck

Hi Tony.
Once you have all the trim screws off, the whole panel is held on by adhesive tape all round the outside. Just lever it (gently) off and all is revealed ! !
Mitch.

Hi everyone here is a picture of the wires going into the hab door as previously stated these have been repaired before so I think before I dismantle the cab doors this is where I should begin my investigations.
Best Wishes Tony

I would remove the insulation tape to expose the individual wires, then check for any obvious damage to the individual wires and the previous repairs.
Assuming you have a multimeter then check the continuity on individual wires over as much length as you can access, if there is no exposed wire then use a fine pins to penetrate the insulation of the wire to get to the conductors, if there is continuity you can check for shorts between the wires, however you will probably have to remove the door cover to try and get to the solenoid to complete your checks.
Cheers
