Good Afternoon all.

We are picking our new van up in September.

What are your thoughts / advice on the Growler Alarm?

Any advice is welcome.

Many Thanks

dont have Growler, but have had Strike back its partner on both our last vans , for 7 1/2 years on current van and 3 years on previous van.

brilliant bit of kit worth every penny

Thank you! I’ve read very positive things about both alarm systems. One of my concerns is the alarm going of accidentally or sporadically! ?

Free , overnight camping at a nice site as well.......mmm, maybe not exactly free as you’ve just paid a lot of money for the alarm. Still a very good purchase with good back up from Eddy n the boys.

Had a Growler on two vans over 7 years and never had a false alarm.
Personally I wouldn’t fit anything else.

i am another that in all the time i have had Strike back i have NEVER had a false alarm.

Strikeback plus fitted in 2017, not a single false alarm to report. Excellent system, especially backing up the Meta Trak ‘non start’ immobiliser.

We have one on our PVC. We did have a few false alarms last year on our holiday in France. This was 3 years after having it fitted. I phoned when we got home, we were fairly sure it was the bike loop . We took it down. This was confirmed and replaced by Ashley whilst we waited and no problems since.

We also have the old style non starter, that had a funny brain storm after we'd had it about a year but that was sorted. It does occasionally not want to turn off but if you try to start van , remove key, wait and then resend the disarm message that resets it for another few months. Doesn't seem to matter where we are. Sometimes on our drive and sometimes elsewhere.

We'd have another.

We've got a Strikeback from Outsmart the Thief. Good service and support. No false alarms and this year we added a bike loop.I think as useful as the Growler. Lots of loyal friends of Vanbitz here, it was just more convenient for us to have it fitted at home.
We went for the full kit with alarm, tracker and immobilized and when we readvof stolen MoHos it seems like money well spent.

Outsmart the thief don't do Strikeback.....

Oh well- we've got whatever they do fit. My point was that having an alarm and immobilizer etc is the main thing. No-ever posts to say theirs is no good. It's just about price and convenience.

Well that is interesting as Van Bitz are the only people that install Strikeback, but I suppose that it is flattering when other business try and copy what you do.

The bike loop is always standard with a "proper" Strikeback" so nothing to be added, along with the "tilt sensor" two radio keys" and Internal and external LED's

Another vote here for Growler, also non starter fitted . Great piece of kit, great after service from Eddie and the boys(and girls) at Vanbitz ???

Have had strikeback on 3 vans now and never had a false alarm, best bit of kit you could buy

Have had growler since March, no problems. Stayed at a slightly worrying site in France, very reassuring to have “panic facility” on key fob with perimeter alarm set, that and multiple LEDs to deter are good features

We love our Growler system with additional bike loop, Tracker and Metatrak wireless immobiliser. I've had two self inflicted alarms go off but no false alarms at all. Really pleased with the system especially the wireless non start facility so that if someone even nicks your keys the van won't start! Got a decent premium reduction on my NFU insurance for the motorhome as well.

Ive heard of a few people now recommending "Outsmart The Thief" How do you rate it? Perhaps you can do a review on it. We are seriously considering it and can have it fitted locally.

We had it fitted to new van about 4 months ago from Vanbitz. Up to now its been trouble free and we're really pleased with it. Book it in asap they can have a months waiting time but do get cancellations.

That’s not quite right, it’s not your member number, but the code in this link.

You find that in Forums/Funster Discounts and it is the first item.

I would absolutely recommend Growler. We did have a few false alarms but found that leaving the mifi running in the van caused it, no trouble now we turn the mifi off, and ensure nothing is dangling near where the internal sensor is.

Last time we were there, the free night on the campsite is now achieved by paying for the campsite then getting the price knocked off the fitting bill.
Enjoy The free coffee, and lifts into Taunton, but at all costs avoid going into Vanbitz shop whilst waiting, unless you are prepared to talk yourself into needing a new reversing camera/ satellite dish / TV / aircon / etc, etc.

Ditto - we had a Growler and Non Starter fitted. Excellent product, excellent service and facility at Cornish Farm. Don’t forget you’re discount when booking and be careful of all the other tempting shiny things in the shop.

We had the Strikeback fitted to our PVC about a year ago and have had no problems.
The operating system was expertly shown to us and I am very pleased with the product.
I would certainly recommend having the Growler or like me the Strikeback fitted.
NB : Don’t forget the Motorhome Funsters discount.

Strikeback-excellent, no problems, had it for about 2 years now, very pleased with it!
Had extra sensor on Gas locker (we have Gaslow in there) !

Had Strikeback Growler and the Non-Starter fitted to our van in Jan after we collected it.

Recommend it.
