I'm a newbie
Well, we have just enjoyed our first nights away in the van. We bought the van from the fine people at East Neuk Campervans last December. Apart from it being used as a day van and an occasional removal van, we had not yet slept in it.

We had a fine time getting to know the van. The bed was much more comfortable than anticipated and everything seemed to work as intended. Despite it being a small van we soon got used to the limited space thanks to the great design by East Neuk.

There was one fly in the ointment though. Whilst negotiating a passing place on a narrow Suffolk lane towards Dunwich, the engine lost all power. No warning lights just an accelerator pedal flapping about uselessly. After an eternity, which was only about four or five seconds normal service was resumed and it has driven perfectly since.

Anybody else encountered this or has any idea what could have caused it?

I had a fairly new Fiat Panda Cross that kept doing this. It was fairly alarming and never quite got to the bottom of it. Eventually returned it to the dealer - Howard’s Motors in Taunton - and swapped it for something else without a quibble.

Brake throttle over ride maybe.

Did you by chance hit both the accelerator and brake at the same time?

I should have said, it is a 2017 Fiat Ducato, 130bhp.

I was attempting to select a gear, so it is possible I could have hit the brake and accelerator at the same time.

How would this cause the accelerator to cease working whilst driving? Seems a harsh punishment for temporary incompetence.

Air in the fuel lines? If it happens again I would be looking at all the connection for a small leak. It could be just air in the system from installation if you have not used it much.

It’s to protect the drive train, pressing the brake pedal automatically reduces the power available

We are up in Norfolk now and this has happened three times today. It is very frustrating both to me and anyone following.

It seems very sensitive. I can induce it very easily by pressing both pedals at the same time but only slightly.

Can the system be adjusted or even disabled?
