GPS location facility 'discontinued'.

I'm going through hundreds of digital pics today, mapping and cataloging 15 years of travel. I've done the Picos down to Lagos so far: it's going to be a long job! I bought a posh Sony Cybershot camera in mid tour and didn't switch on the GPS location facility for quite a while... ?
I now find that the map built into the Play memories software has been 'discontinued' due to a Google problem, so I have to read the metadata and type it in every time to find out where I took the picture! Is there another way?
