End of June we would love to do a week on The Gower Peninsula.
Never been so would be grateful for suggestions on a fully serviced site within walking distance to a village?
We wouldn't mind doing 3nts and 4nts
Ta in advance.

Outside the school holidays you don't need to book, places to wild or camp abound. I love Mewslade, it's a great place for crabbing and messing about in rock pools etc.

I stayed here a few years ago. It's walkable into Solva, although it's down a bit of a hill.

Thanks Janine. It's booked up for when we want to go but is available for 1st week of July. Have to talk to the boss when she get's back. Looks a lovely spot.

Pembury country park is great there is a small village but it’s a bit of a walk if you have bikes it’s on a brilliant cycle route across the sea front. Walks in the wood, 7 miles of beach, pony trekking, dry ski slope plenty to do. Club site or you can book through the local council.

Oxwich Beach. Very good restaurant ‘Beach House’ the main car park has a height restriction barrier but you can park just before the barrier.
Pembury C&MCS is good the campsite in the park is a bit bland. Cycle routes along the coast towards the east.

Mewslade has a great cl, a bit difficult to get in and out but right on the coastal path.
Pembrey is great but would not go near the place in school holidays

Pitton Cross, campsite within 1 mile of Rhossili, easy walk up to the top of the downs as well. Not cheap but worth it for the ease of access to the beaches and cliff top walks etc. I had a great stay last year in September.

This is why we would like to go end June before he monsters are let out of school.
Will have a good study of all suggestions to see what might suit us best.

Try https://pencarnanfarm.co.uk/ near St Davids.

Check out https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk for hundreds of reviews.
We're booked up to go again in July.
We had been booked up to go in Mid May but after driving to Aberystwyth in near 70mph winds and horizontal rain with several small rivers flowing across the road. We stopped at Aberystwyth harbour to walk the dog and could barely walk into the wind and driving rain! The site is very exposed and has it's own private beach, we decided to knock it on the head as the winds in South Wales had been forecast to be even stronger! :Eeek: St Davids is walkable I'm told

Could someone tell me from East to West or visa versa where does The Gower start and finish? (or North to South accordingly)

Hi.
Went a long time ago. MAGIC. Be aware if swimming off the beaches, we did swim safely, daughter was about 10 then, but were told later tides can be tricky . Trip to " Dan Yr Ogof ? " cave system,if nearby. It was that long ago,we have a photo of us plus our dog.... Inside.. :ROFLMAO: (y)
Welsh beaches ? Some of the finest in the world. Enjoy.
Tea Bag

Bank Farm at Port Eynon/ Horton. Good views out to sea, on cliffs above village. Has a swimming pool and bar.

Can walk along coastal path to Oxwich bay, where Hotel and the Beach Restaurant, now we know it is there. Several years ago, we picked 8 kilos of blackberries on the Farm hedges, hardly had to move! Ate some of the jelly I made, this morning!

That's quite a bit further west than the Gower
Edit. Should have read the rest of the thread before commenting 😁

Sorry, brain fade. I was thinking of Three Cliffs Bay 🙄
I mentioned Three cliffs on another post about site costs recently, they now charge £50 a night and they are almost fully booked until October, total madness!

One of the beauties of the Gower is that it is very little developed, depends what you mean 'within walking distance of a village'. You may need to stay closer to Swansea for that kind of thing. But then you'd miss the fact that the Gower is really for walking. The amazing thing is that you can find any kind of beach that the UK has on offer on this very small area. From cliffs and coves, to the wide expanse of Rhossili/Llangennith beach (go to Broughton for a similar kind of beach without the crowds) and then there's the dunes, coastal pine forest, mud flats, and salt marshes on the north side (walk around Whitford Point) . It is well worth walking the coast path all around. The view from Llangmadoc hill is one of the best on the Gower imo and afterwards you can pop into the shop/tearoom of the community shop, Siop-y-Bobl, in Llangmadoc.
And there's the surfing of course.
Love the Gower.

After reading the above i have a lot of studying to do today.
Beaches, surfing etc are not top of our list. Nice to look at whilst walking or for a short walk along. We wont be dipping our toes in the sea let alone swim, those days are long gone.
Looking like we will try and find a place with facilities and hire a car for the duration to go out and about for visits to villages, walks etc.
Hopefully by the end of the day we will have something confirmed.
Once again the forum funsters have come up trumps with info to help.
Thank you all
I will revert later.

That will be Pembrey Country Park,
as said miles of beach, miniature railway , motor racing circuit just 2 miles away all in all a jewel.

I have looked at that, however it states "A club site for members", we are not members. I think it is worth my PA at least making a call to them.
Top of the list so far is Pitton Cross.
Hard work this research.
