This morning I noticed that a “Do not travel abroad” in the near future was issued by the British government. Cancel holidays abroad “indefinitely“ was how it was worded by Dominic Raab.
Apart from decimating the travel industry, Funsters should be sticking around Britain for now.
I am 8 hours behind the U.K. so sorry if this has been posted before.

I wonder if Scotland is 'abroad'?
I wonder if the ferry companies will still accept cars and motorhomes after this latest instruction?

The Insurers with Nationwide have stated that you will not be covered for any claim arising out of Coronavirus if the holiday is booked after 18th March.
That would include I would imagine Ferries, Campsite bookings, Cruises etc.

We do not expect to be able to travel freely this year. Home is Spain, and that's where we shall remain until the border controls allow us to pass, not a bad thing I suppose, a sensible approach, we have friends here in Murcia who decided to sit it out in their holiday rentals, against the advice of the UK government, they will be stuck here for much longer than they expected......

This makes a joke of Brittany Ferries offering a discount of 20% to France and 15% to Spain using the vouchers they are issuing instead of refunds.
To get the discount you have to book by 31st July.
Still trying to get a refund.

We keep getting updates from the Greek Islands company that we used last year. They've just put their June prices up by around £300 pp. They must have been hoping the lockdown would be lifted by then and everyone would be desperate to get away ?

The sun is out so it’s balmy here in far flung Scotland ??. The ferry’s will accept cars and vans. With just one Little condition. You must be a resident of the islands ? ?

Another example of stating the bleeding obvious whereas it should say you are not allowed to travel anywhere. But doesn't an advisory allow insurance companies to get off the hook?

My daughter booked a holiday to Florida in June. She can’t cancel as she will not get a refund, she has to wait for the travel company to cancel it.

Pandemics, acts of war generally there is a list of exclusions and it doesn't help with advisory either it all gives wriggle room. on the other side I guess insurance would be prohibitive if there were not exclusions so yes there will be a lot of people who will loose money, that includes insurance companies as well as the public an business's. We could come out of this and have Depression like the 1920's !

On one of the hgv sites it’s saying that to travel in France you need essential journey paper work, this included hgv drivers.

We have friends that live in Skiathos and travelling between the islands currently isn't allowed full stop.

If lock down is lifted then UK sites will be either ram packed or impossible to get on. Looks like I have got a rather expensive wheeled summer house in the garden for the rest of 2020.....
But those who are employed and still have jobs may have to forgo leave or will be required to work. Sites may not be rammed. But then again my glass is always half full

Let’s face it, the future is uncertain but we all need to maintain a positive outlook!
Read Jim’s forward in the latest MHF magazine and be inspired!!!

The C&CC have already decided not to re-open 11 of their club sites at all this year, according to their FAQ page. They probably won't be the only ones, so as you say it could be difficult to book a place.

On the other hand, maybe they're doing this because they think people will be reluctant to head out when things are lifted. They might spend the rest of the summer/autumn doing the maintenance/upgrade work that was planned for the winter shutdown.

Like all of us, we have very expensive motor homes on our drives that we can’t use! I’m still waiting for some kind of refund from Britannia Ferries.....stay safe my friends

I'm guessing they are going to come down hard on wild/free camping as well after the "issues" with full timers. I can see a height barrier appearing on the Blue John cavern road for starters..

I booked to go to Bibao on July 19th. I made the booking over the Christmas holiday. I'm still optimistic I might be able to go but if I am offered I will defer the trip until next year. Pedro.

I prophesied before today's relaxation of travel that they would not
remove the FCO Warning re travel to foreign parts.

Considering that we are, in this case, the sick man of Europe,
I feel it has more to do with keeping the masses in the UK to spend locally
when on holiday than it has to do with the risk to bringing back an infection.

I too sensed this and Boris even indicated in today's briefing following a question from a reporter, that they hoped people would chose to holiday in our own lands with a 'Great British Stay Cation'......

Will be interesting to see what is announced on Monday the 29th June????

The restriction on foreign travel by the imposition of a false 'Health Warning' by the FCO is more insidious than the Exchange Controls in the 60's that prevented a UK citizen from taking more than a certain amount of money to take when going on holiday.
At least you could go abroad, even though you couldn't buy much when you got there.

(AND NO, I'M NOT THAT OLD, MY GRANNY TOLD ME WHEN SHE WAS DANDLING ME ON HER KNEE!!!)

Holiday in the UK? Love to, chances of booking a site in July and August?
