Just took this pic from beside the MoHo.
We have a bit of a storm, very windy and rain.
Rock of Gibraltar looks quite eerie.
Staying at Alcadeisa Marina 15 euros a night.
Laundry and one Ladies and one Gents Loo.
10 minutes walk to the Border Passport Control to enter Gibraltar, site is in Spain.

We've got Gibraltar on our places to visit next year. Travelling over in March and return April, so any info is always welcome. We've checked out the Aire on YouTube and is in our list of Aires to use.

Don't expect too much of the town - it's rather like a mid week visit to Portsmouth or Plymouth. The bubble lift up to the top is pretty ancient and dirty and the apes will take anything that's not nailed down. The cafe at the top of the rock was grotty as well. Cadement' s Square had an interesting glass blowing demo - but that's about it. The much vaunted "duty free" shops only have end of line tech or overpriced Apple stuff.

There used to be a brilliant "hole in the wall" Morrocan take away about two thirds of the way down C/ Real / Main St on the west side - a couple of women cooking up a storm and serving some seriously good nose bag.

The 100 ton gun is interesting if you like that kind of thing, but they could make a bit more of it. The caves and gun batteries are good - but depends on your guide as to what you see and how they present it.

The old local Gibraltar dialect is of interest insofar as they seem to fluidly swap, at random, between Arabic, French, Spanish and English on a word for word basis. Very difficult to follow and we have been led to believe it was termed, by the Tars of old, as speaking Gibberish. However, this seems to be a local belief so who knows?

MisterB we stayed on the Alcadeisa Marina aire earlier this year and walked across to Gibraltar for the day.
We took a taxi tour of the key sights on the island, not cheap but the price includes the entry fees to the places you are taken to, for us it was worth it.
The caves were spectacular, with a really great light show. The tunnels were really interesting and we walked back down from them, so that we could visit other places on the way back down and see some of the town.
I know that some people seem to have a bit of a bleak view of Gibraltar but we liked it & if in the area you've got to do it.
Do not under any circumstances have any food on show near the apes, as they will steal it (I have a story about that!) :ROFLMAO:
Most of the taxi/tour drivers know the apes at the top and carry peanuts with them, that they will let you feed the apes with.

Its not a pretty town, but its an interesting visit walking in across the runway and its position and feel. There some ok eating places there( not in casemates square), The duty free booze is pretty cheap and fuel is a lot cheaper and the marina is an easy stop that rarely gets full.
